And she is a beauty, what a great drive home. Spent about an hour driving up and down a hilly road to get home.

Question for any dealers here:

The Volvo comes from factory with synthetic engine oil installed, presumably this is Volvo's preference/recommendation.
The lease program included maintenance done by my dealer, and (according to him) covers the cost of conventional oil only, synthetic is upcharged.
Seems like a chincy way to piss people off - it did not impress me to hear this - think stealership.

Any thoughts?

2013 models have a 10,000 mile oil change interval and I think they come with synthetic. 2012 has a 7500
mile oil change interval and I think they come with conventional. However, I am not 100% sure on that.
What was your source for synthetic from the factory on 2012? I did switch to synthetic on my 2011.

Source for the updated service intervals:
http://www.volvocars.com/us/sales-s...ers/offers/safeandsecureoffer/pages/cfsm.aspx

From that site:

The maintenance program covers the first six scheduled services at no charge on model year 2012 and 2011 vehicles. The service schedule is 7,500, 15,000, 22,500, 30,000, 37,500 and 45,000 miles.

The maintenance program covers the first five scheduled services at no charge on model year 2013 vehicles. The service schedule is 10,000, 20,000, 30,000, 40,000, and 50,000 miles.

Source is the dealer in response to my specific question.
I notice in the manual now it says that synthetic oil at regular changes is only used by customer request.
Company policy I guess.

Yep. You might consider buying the synthetic oil yourself and just giving it to them to change out if they'll allow it. Quite a bit cheaper than what the dealership charges.

I too think it's ridiculous, especially when most Volvos now have a turbo on them, which makes fully synthetic all that much more critical.

Especially if you're using the Castrol EDGE synethetic - that stuff is liquid gold. Comes in a nice gold container to remind of the price you're paying for it too...:( You can usually find them on sale for 35% off a jug, or buy one, get one 50% off (which amounts to the same thing really), and you need 2 jugs of it.
