I just got back from the IPD installation shop here, and they told me they could not install the CAI with the phMIC cuz the pipes coming out of the end tanks are in front of the fog light grilles... I did a quick search here and saw that someone had done a dual CAI with the same intercooler, indicating it can be done.
Anyone in the PDX area that has done this before wanna help me put dual CAI on my car? There are some beers in it for ya.

Re: phMIC + R Kelly CAI = No Go? (chrizzis)

It can be done, but it's VERY tight. You can just slip the tubing around, but the offset funnel cannot fit - you can either use a centered funnel (ala "R" Kelly) or fabricate your own scoop/funnel.

It is something that you have to plan for. While the bumpers is off you need to route it and give it a dry run w/o clipping the bumper back in. I was lucky and didn't pay attention and it just happened to be routed the right way. Mine is hooked up now and although it isn't routed as good as before the FMIC, it still fits.

it can be done, even with the offset intake, you just have to install it sort of above the piping angled slightly downward, and use something to wedge it into place. May need to trim of the the flange around the intake as well depending on how you position it.
JRL was the second person to do the CAI install with the yonaka (phMIC) core, DEV70R also had both, can't remember who the others are off the top of my head...

So, I don't need to take the bumper off?

I was looking at the installation instructions. Can you rotate the funnel 180? Is something in the way on the outer side of the funnel area?

As it was described to me, the front of intake is angled pointing down slightly, not sure what all is holding it place in these installs, since it isn't the normal install where the foglight grill holds it in place. Maybe even zip ties?
Maybe JRL or someone else can pipe in here?

I have a phMIC and dual Kelly CAI. I can get one to fit with some serious modification and a centered funnel, but it does fit (pass. side IIRC). I could never get the other funnel to fit with either offset or centered funnel.

I have a Kelly CAI and was considering an FMIC next. So there are issues with CAI/FMIC fitment? Nice.

Re: (phuz)

Use a centered funnel or fabricate a custom funnel or just use no funnel at all. It'll still work even with no funnel.
SOME funnel would be better but Jim Lill made his out of the top of a bottle of Drain-O so just get creative.
IIRC, it's the funnel location issue, not the hose.

Re: phMIC + R Kelly CAI = No Go? (phuz)

2 days ago, I did a dry run with the hose. It works -- you have to go over the pipe going into the end tank. I'll be cutting the funnel up and putting the CAI in after this rain stops... And I thought summer was actually here to stay.
