I'm the proud new owner of an XC90 and inquired about personalized settings on my XC90. I found the following and thought I'd post for all to see.

Source: http://acctest.semcon.se/en-GB...1.htm

Op. no. 89991
These kits make it possible to add and change certain functions in your car such as alarm, unlocking and seat temperature.

FUNCTION FOR UNLOCKING

XC90
2 stage unlocking (US/CA functionality) 6849 996-1
XC90
One-stage unlocking (EU functionality) 6849 995-3

Allows you to change the unlocking function of your car.

One-stage unlocking means that all doors and the tailgate/boot lid are unlocked by a press the UNLOCK button on the remote control once.

2 stage unlocking means that the first press on the remote control UNLOCK button will unlock the driver's door only. A second press is required to unlock the remaining doors. To date cars built for the US and Canada have been supplied with 2 stage unlocking.

Cars built for other countries are supplied with one-stage unlocking.

------------------------------------------------------------------------------------

FUNCTION FOR CAR CONFIRMATION

XC90
Visual confirmation signal / add 6849 993-8
XC90
Visual confirmation signal / remove 6849 994-6

Allows subsequent adding or removal of the visual confirmation signal for your car.

The function involves the car's indicators flashing once on locking if all doors are closed and twice on unlocking.

------------------------------------------------------------------------------------

FUNCTION FOR AUTOMATIC LOCKING

XC90
Automatic locking / add 6849 997-9
XC90
Automatic locking / remove 6849 998-7

Makes it possible to retrofit or remove the automatic locking function in your car.

This function automatically locks the doors in the normal way (not deadlocking) when vehicle speed exceeds 7 km/h.

If the doors are unlocked with the central locking button whilst driving, the doors remain unlocked until the ignition is switched off.

If one of the doors is unlocked with the lock button or by using the inside door handle, when exiting the car for example, the door will be relocked when the vehicle speed exceeds 7 km/h.

An open door will not be locked. The doors are not unlocked automatically when the speed goes below 7 km/h.

------------------------------------------------------------------------------------

FUNCTION FOR ALARM ACTIVATION / DEACTIVATION

XC90
Alarm activation / Deactivation via door locks / add 6849 991-2
XC90
Alarm activation / Deactivation via door locks / remove 6849 992-0

Makes it possible to retrofit or remove the alarm activation/deactivation function via the door locks in your car.

The function makes it possible to activate/deactivate the car's alarm via the door locks.

NOTE: The function for alarm activation / deactivation provides inferior theft protection as a further means of deactivating the alarm is created. The function is not approved by insurance companies in SE, NO, FI, DK, BE, FR, UK. Check which rules apply for your insurance.

------------------------------------------------------------------------------------

FUNCTION FOR SEAT TEMPERATURE

XC90
High seat heating 36-43°C 6849 988-8
XC90
Medium seat heating 32-38°C 6849 989-6
XC90
Low seat heating 28-35°C 6849 990-4

Allows the seat heating in your car to be readjusted. The temperatures stated are approximate and specify low and high comfort levels. Cars built for northern Europe are normally delivered with 30-36°C as low and high comfort levels.

I ended up getting the 1 stage unlocking. They ended up charging me $100 for the program and $30 to install it. Yes I know what a sham but pressing the button twice annoyed me enough to pay the stealer to just do it.

Re: Personal Car Settings using using VADIS/VIDA (gdclnfn)

I too have 1 stage unlocking and confirmation. While I understand that the 2 stage unlock is the "norm" for the US market, it was annoying enough to me that I paid to have it modified. Have heard of others getting this done for free at 7500 mile service, it's worth a try...
Not a lot of dealers are aware of the mods so if you decide to have this done, bring the 6849 99x-x numbers with you so that they can reference when ordering software from VADIS/VIDA.

at 7500 you will be handed a sheet with all the modification you wish to have done for free.
Each will have an explanation and you just check the ones you want

Nobody handed me a sheet with free modifications at the 7500 mile service.
This at Roger Beasly Volvo in Austin.
I also was not aware of this possibility, so I did not ask for it.

Re: Personal Car Settings using using VADIS/VIDA (Majisto)

Today I scheduled my 7,500 mile visit at Volvo of Oak Park in Chicago. (I just moved here recently...) I asked the service rep about changing this setting and he told me, "Just to get the software download from Volvo cost $400, and the labor charge is nominal." I didn't read this thread until tonight... I might consider cancelling my 7:30am appointment tomorrow morning and calling around...

Re: Personal Car Settings using using VADIS/VIDA (LJUII)

This morning I called my dealer (Crest Volvo, Macomb, Michigan) and told them I was up for my 7,500 mile service call. I asked the sales rep about changing my personal settings for the door locks while I was there. She said, "No problem, it costs $30 to download the software from Volvo, and the installation is free." I said, "Sounds like you just earned my business!" I called Volvo of Oak Park, Chicago and cancelled my appointment for this morning. It might not make much sense to spend $100 bucks in gas for an oil change & tire rotation, but I get to visit mom & dad, Crest Volvo has free hot dogs and C70 test drives this weekend. The deal just keeps sounding better & better! Also, it made no sense to spend $400++ for a simple personal adjustment on a $48,500 (sticker price) vehicle.

I believe the free software updates were only to the '06 cars because they got rid of the free service for the 4yr/50k. Let me know if I'm wrong though.
My dealer in Oregon changed a couple of settings (one-click open and rear-view mirror dim level) for free in 2003. From discussions here it seems like price has been dealer's choice with most charging a small amount to cover labor. I noticed on a new Jeep Grand Cherokee that similar settings could be made by the driver. I don't understand why Volvo couldn't do this, too.

They did, but only on the S40 and V50.

Re: (XC-Ski)

Was the rear-view mirror dim level a software download or just a setting change? Is it a change that is made through VADIS?

When I made the appointment for my 7500mi service. my service manager, Menke in Monterey, wasn't aware of the free changes for '06 models. He offered to research it said he'd have the paperwork waiting for me. He kept his word and had it waiting for me the next day when I dropped the XC90 off. He also agreed to turn on the "autolock" feature even though that feature isn't listed on the worksheet. He didn't charge me for autolock. I asked him about the auto dimming mirror and he said his tech couldn't find any software for changing the dim level. He did say that if I could find a part number he'd do it for me.

BTW, since having the autolocking feature turned on and one-click unlocking turned on my locks will not stay locked if I try to lock the car with the button on the door. With key in pocket and uppon exiting the vehicle I try to just lock it with the door button. The locks go down but before I can get the door shut they come back up. It only happens with a door open, if all doors are shut I can lock from inside with door button just fine. Anyone else having this problem?

Re: Personal Car Settings using using VADIS/VIDA (LJUII)

Just got back from my weekend excursion to Crest Volvo in Macomb, MI. The service manager so felt bad that he could not get the oil line recall completed, and the fact that I drove all the way from Chicago to have my 7,500 mile service done; he gave me the auto locking software job for free! And, I got to test drive the new C70 convertible, and I got two hot dogs to boot! That C70 is SWEET!!! I was almost tempted to throw down the keys on my XC-90 and make a deal. Definitely a dealer to keep!

I had autolock option added; cost c£20. works ok & saves having to remember locking car when on move. Door lock from remote on leaving vehicle sometimes failed afterwards; dealer repaced door actuator, or so they said?

On V50/S40 this feature available from menu control along with lots of other toys.

I have VIDA and DiCE, and am trying to do the one-stage unlock (known as Standard Unlock in VIDA) on my 2008 XC90 V8 AWD. I can't find how to reprogram the car for this function. Do I really have to have the dealer do it? I can't do it myself? This as well as auto-lock after 7 mph driving (which I also want) are both mentioned in VIDA when I search up "one stage unlock", so it looks like it's possible. Just don't know how to do it...

Has anyone done the Direct/One-Stage Unlocking feature download via VIDA on their XC90? I'm trying to do it on my 2008 XC90 V8. My dealer is quoting me $200 for the simple software download that achieves this Direct/One-Stage Unlocking.

I have VIDA/DiCE at home. Is it possible for me to do this at home, or do I have to go to a dealer?
