I was browsing through a UK automotive publication (which shall remain nameless except to say that it shares a TV show of the same name) I came across an article about chasing down a disguised prototype of the new Land Rover Freelander. What caught my eye most about the pics is that it seems that the Freelander is running on Pegs! Painted flat black, but man do they look similar. In one of the pics, I think I can even make out the R on the spokes. Harder to see in the scans.
Hey, it's in the Ford tree, why not?
The story goes that these guys went to Colorado to find this pre-production model that they heard was running around. After searching for it for a while, it pulls up behind them.
Priceless!

Scooped by Johann. Different car, though.
Don't frequent the S40/V50 forum too often, though.

Quote, originally posted by Token »

Why does it have to remain nameless? Re: Peg's on a new Freelander? (needsdecaf)

Just because it shares a platform doesn't mean it has to share axles or the 5/108 bolt spacing of a Volvo.
I'm pretty sure Mazda doesn't use the 5/108, nor does Land Rover.
The only thing that would make sense is if they are testing a Volvo drivetrain in the mule. For the XC50 perhaps.
