Some of you may be familiar with the Pedalbox throttle controller, it enhances pedal response and gets a lot of great reviews from the rest of the Euro crowd. The website does not list the R but has many other Volvo models. I have contacted the company and there are two options that should work for us.
I am going to get one and as soon as my car is running again Ill report back. This seems like a great mod for the price ($200 ish) that anyone could install and would probably enhance a stock car just as much as a well modded car.

Can't wait to try it out, should make heel-toe shifting a breeze!

Heel-toe shifting will never be a breeze with the pedal positioning in the R. All this will probably do is change your throttle mapping to make it seem more responsive but also make it extra jumpy/lumpy. Skeptical.

You're a moron if you use this. Seriously.

If I want there to be 16% more throttle input, its much easier and cheaper to push my foot down 16% farther than it is to spend $200 and put it in sport mode. The fraction of a second that it takes for my foot to travel the extra distance isn't going to make a difference. This sounds like a gimmick, not in that it doesn't work, but I can't see any point in using this unless you wish their was less pedal travel for some reason?

I'll admit that it seems a little silly but how do you explain all the great reviews?

Simple, it does exactly what it says it does. The people who buy it want less pedal travel/increased throttle response and it gives them that, so they give a good review. I'm sure some people think it makes their car faster too, and those people also give amazing reviews.

I think the real question here should be if this is something that can be changed with a tune on our cars. There is already a supposed increase in throttle response in advanced mode, so maybe a tune could change it as well?

Exactly. Oldest trick in the book. Just remap the throttle so 10% pedal travel now gives you 50% throttle and hey wow that feels so much faster and responsive! Except it isn't.

Yes it can be changed with a tune.

This would be a great mod if you had short legs and couldn't reach the pedal to push it all the way down.
