What the difference between the mounting brackets for the two spoilers?
You can use either type on any P80 wagon. I bought a P80 spoiler from Phil a few months ago and had it painted to match the car. It takes some time to do it right, but it improves the look of the car by leaps and bounds in my opinion.

The later 2-piece type (shown with the white spoiler) actually bolt the spoiler to the hinge of the car. With these brackets, the tightness of the fit against the car can be adjusted more easily than the earlier bracket type. Where the spoiler itself touches the car there are four pads, which are just foam rubber (sticky on one side) and about 1mm thick.

The earlier 1-piece type still wraps around the hinge, so the spoiler won't go flying off, but doesn't bolt *to* the hinge. The spoiler is held down by just the pressure of being attached to the brackets that wrap around the hinge. There are also the four pads on the underside of the spoiler, about 1mm thick, but with this type it's a good idea to make new pads out of two-sided sticky foam for the spots where the spoiler rests on the glass, just to get a little extra grip. I don't know if I'd want to use the two-sided sticky foam on the paint. Depending on the car and the brackets, you may also want to put a layer of rubber in the bottom of the U where it wraps around the hinge to get a tighter fit, so the bracket is really holding the spoiler down firmly and won't move around.

Anyway, either bracket type is fine as long as you are careful about the adjustment and get a good tight fit. I spent about an hour fiddling with mine when I installed it to get the fit just right. I also repainted the brackets and used new stainless hardware.
