Good morning from Greece
My name is Yiannis and i own a 2006 XC70
Before some days i decided that is finally time to change the ugly HU-650 stereo with an aftermarket one.
So i decided to buy a custom made, especially for Volvo, aftermarket stereo from Bluepower Sweden
http://cgi.ebay.co.uk/ws/eBayI...05631
Generally speaking i am very happy with the new one. It includes all the functions that i would love to have in my car, navigation, bluetooth, ipod etc
But the main problem is that is not cooperate with the OE parking sensors.
Which i think it is very important due to the dimensions of the XC70
Is there a solution to that problem ?
ps. excuse me for my English
Yiannis

Re: Parking sensors Problem (Yiannis)

Hi Yiannis, the parking sensors/parking assistance module (PAM) communicate with the car via the CANBUS. Any aftermarket head unit (HU) must be able to communicate with the CANBUS and specifically interpret the PAM codes to make use of the PAM--and to the best of my knowledge, there is NOT and aftermarket HU that will do that.
There are some aftermarket adapters, like dietz, that will give canbus signals for the steering wheel controls, vss (speed), reverse status to an aftermarket HU, but, again, NO parking sensor/PAM input.
Additionally, the Bluepower HU does not appear to be able to interpret the parking sensor/PAM input either.
So, as best I can tell at this time, there only option for Parking Assistance and your car is with the HU-650 or an HU-850 or an aftermarket system like the previous poster suggests.
