Tools required:<br>Metric socket set or wrenches <br>needle nose pliers<br>rubber mallet<br>jack<br>jackstands<p><br>1: With wheel chalks in front wheels, Jack up rear of car ( I did this by placing some scrap steel tubing on my jack and lifting under the trunk pan). also unscrew the "adjustment screw" near the parking lever so you reset that one too.

good job documenting this. You seemed to have better luck getting the rotors off, as one of mine was a real PITA.<p>But did you spray the entire rotor? bit dangerous, isn't it?

Same question as T5 I hope you didn't spray the entire rotor! if you did , I hope you at least cleaned it up before re-installing. We did AthruC's E-brakes this past Sat. on his T5. This is a nice write up though.

I would have to pull forward before i could reverse out of parking spots. One of my pads delaminated when i pulled it out too, so i figure it was a good precautionary measure.

definitely a good idea. They should probably be replaced each time the brakes are done, given that they are prone to delamination and failure. <p>And the scary part is, they do look brand new and they already started separating.

Is OEM the only source for parking brake shoes? Sounds like poor quality shoes if they are delaminating, especially so soon in some cases. Geez, I NEVER had this problem in my 1974 AMC Hornet. Good thing, too. That had 4-wheel drum brakes.

You can find a couple other different brands online as well.

I just finished putting on my parking brake pads and now the rotor will not fit. <br>Any adjustment I need to make? I tried applying the parking brake several times and still nothing. are the parking brakes different from the left and right?<p> I did notice the part number on each one was the same. <IMG NAME="icon" SRC="http://www.vwvortex.com/vwbb/confused.gif" BORDER="0">

Mine were a little tough to get on too...but they eventually slipped on. I also just cut all the springs and replaced them.
