I have both front and rear park assist. Rear is working just fine. Front however seems to be too sensitive. It beeps when traffic pulls along side at a stop light. It also beeps when I pull out of a driveway making a right hand turn. I think it is picking up the curb to the right. I've fooled with the in-car menu and there is no setting for park assist. Yes, I can turn it off but the last time I did that I almost backed into a building, expecting the rear to beep. Is there any way to turn down the sensitivity?

Re: Park Assist (comp1)

Many times just a little piece of debris can get stuck in the round sensor and cause it to go off. Take some canned air and just give the sensor a quick blast and that should help out. Lastly, the sensors can be a tad bit sensitive in traffic and going in and out of driveways and "reading" curbs etc.. I also have turned off the park assist and completely forgot to turn it back on and came very close to damaging my car.

Happens to me too. I unplugged it but it gave me an error message on the speedometer.

Volvo should upgrade the software so that the front is not active all the time. I drove this thing in deep snow last winter, this thing beeps on me every time I came to a full stop due to snow accumulating on the lower front bumper.

Exactly. Stopped at a red light, it beeps when pedestrians pass in front of the car... stupid logic (or not enough I should say) built into the software is the problem...

Re: Park Assist (Lotus99)

Most cars I've driven with this feature (mostly rentals in Europe) seem to engage the system when it thinks you're parking. Putting the car in reverse or forward driving below 3mph; those seem like reasonable "switches" for this feature if it had to come in automatically.

Even though my new car (!) will have this feature, I'd much rather have it off automatically until I want it. I don't in any way find beeping a necessary experience for 95% of the parking I do here (though admittedly, it's very handy in Europe, where the parking garages and spaces are absolutely tiny).

Same with my car, however this is what is expected. Apparently the system works at speeds less than 10mm/h or so, so it would beep if there is an obstacle in front.

This was somewhat of a probllem in winter with ice buildup too. To me it's a minor issue at best. Turn if off the first time it beeps.

The idea of it being always on is logical - so you can rely on it and you don't forget it's off. Makes perfect sense to me.
