What do you all think of Panama Yellow? I am not sure that I like it very much, but it is interesting none-the-less!

-Drew

I personally like it. Throw some 18" rims on this baby and it'll be sweet!
I wonder is this the same yellow that Volvo used on their "R" series. I've seen a couple that were very oxidized & faded... almost looked like flat yellow!

The "R" series yellow color was called "T-Gul" or "Dakkar", which looks more like a flat-yellow color. I think that the S40 "Panama" yellow looks better than the "R" yellow.
-Drew

Yellow cars are so personal ... you MUST modify a yellow car because it just doesn't look very good stock. However, once it's dialed-in, yellow can be a very bold statement.
HOwever, buying a yellow car is a death sentance in resale value. you just got to accept that you'd probably get far less for a yellow car than you could for a silver car.
Joe Flies
(with Atlantic Blue)

I think that Yellow looks good on the VW Beetle and Audi S4 (Imola).
There is also "Peacock" Green as well, that is interesting. I have actually seen one of these at my Volvo dealer, it was a wagon. I think that my dealer has only sold one "Peacock" green thus far!

-Drew
[This message has been edited by InDy (edited 02-14-2001).]

What do you think about Desert Wind? I saw it and hated it. my dealer told me that the only reason that Volvo used it on the S40 was because that they had to get rid of the overstock, from being such an unpopular color on older volvos.
Yes, the Audi S4 Imola yellow is pretty interesting. The Audi A4 Brilliant Yellow though is pretty bad.
I like yellow cars, but not that S40. I prefer darker yellow that's closer to orange. I agree with the modification of yellow cars, it must be done!

Actually, I really like this one, but I can't figure out the name of the color. This is Blackberry Metallic right? I have never seen this one before at the dealer. The only other color that Volvo made that looked like this was Amethyst Metallic.

-Drew

I've seen the blackberry in person at two dealerships, it is a very interesting colour, looks good, but I don't think it will be my selection when I get my new car (soon I hope)

Mitch,
I really like the color "Blackberry", although I have never seen it before in real life! I think that this "Amethyst Metallic" 1995 850 Turbo Wagon below looks pretty good.

-Drew

I've actually seen and driven an S40 in Panama yellow. My local dealer has two on the lot, since it was to be a special order colour I figure that someone ordered it the decided they didn't like it.
Personally I like the yellow on the wagon, saw one at the car show and it was okay. Under the way too bright lights the car was an eyesore, but in real life the colour wasn't too bad. I've given it some serious consideration for my car but I'll likely go with the bright red for my upcoming wagon.

Panama Yellow, in my opinion, looks decent. Doesn't sell much, though. The Desert Wind is just plain horrible, and sells even worse. Now, if Volvo replaced the Desert Wind with Ash Gold from the 60/70/80, it'd cater more to those who prefer neutral colours, which of course, the Desert Wind, is not.
