Hey guys,
I got a check engine light while shifting in geartronic mode (~55mph) and went home, checked it, and discovered it was P0193, a high input on the Fuel Rail Pressure Sensor circuit. Just wondering if any S40/V50 owners have had this issue.
Reset the code and am waiting to see if it comes back tomorrow when I drive it. I haven't noticed any decrease in performance, maybe once or twice in 20 minutes of driving, and took the car up a pretty steep grade in the process.
Curious to see what the repair is going to cost if necessary, since I'm off warranty, so any input is appreciated!

Re: P0193 Fuel Rail Pressure Sensor Circuit High Input (makonyy15)

Same thing happened to me about a month ago, i cleared the CEL and it came back two days later. My fuel rail sensor switch was replaced under warranty but the part i believe was $140. Its not a hard fix but keep in mind the fuel rail will be pressurized and will need to be bled prior to parts removal.
Todd

Re: P0193 Fuel Rail Pressure Sensor Circuit High Input (makonyy15)

Just diagnosed one the other day. Fuel pressure sensor was reading a different value than my fuel pressure gauge so i condemned the sensor. Hasnt come back so i assume it was a proper fix.
Ive heard of a few others have this replaced as well as seen the code stored while diagnosing other problems. The sensor isnt cheap however could be easily replaced by someone with minimal mechanical experience.
I believe they are Grey if its turbo and black if its 2.4i. Only reason i say that is they ordered the wrong one for the car and it came grey when i needed one for a 2.4i.
Left side of the fuel rail when looking straight at the engine from the front of the vehicle. Will probably have to removed the cam cover. Held on by one T25 torx screw, be sure to bleed the fuel rail pressure or put a rag over it when you remove it to make sure it doesnt spray fuel in your eyes... has happened to me before

Sweet, IPD's prices are usually pretty fair. Depending on the mark up of most dealerships they are generally a few bucks less

Yep, recall 181 I thought that one was. Done a ton of them but for the S60 although the same part is used on the S40 lol.

Re: P0193 Fuel Rail Pressure Sensor Circuit High Input (ForceFed Motorsports)

So , some Quality Control Guy , Believes , He's Isolated a Group of Parts
a ( Batch Number ) that have Produced Issues !
Also are the S40's Made in Canada , and the V50 in Belgium , or is the S60 made in Canada ? ( or just Finalized there ? )
Butt , If they haven't changed Vendor , then that Vendor is Required to go to a Higher Q.A. Level .
Belgium Line might use a Different Supplier .
Either way It should be Looked into more , If someone could have there Volvo Parts Man - Run a Check on that ? -

I had mine pop off completely(the screw threads stripped out) , spilling fuel all over the garage floor, not to mention the hot engine....got lucky didn't catch fire(wasn't much fuel, but still scared the crap out of me).

Re: P0193 Fuel Rail Pressure Sensor Circuit High Input (selrahc)

Hi,
I have a 2005 S60 2.5T with 72K miles, displayed the PO193 code for a few days now after brief losses of power every day while driving and a couple stalls coming to a stop. I ordered a new sensor and the sensor is located on the driver's side of the fuel rail. I don't know how to relieve the fuel pressure before removing the sensor. Any thoughts? What if I just wait for the engine to be cold? Thanks!

Re: P0193 Fuel Rail Pressure Sensor Circuit High Input (danerrr)

Should be a fuel rail service fitting on the left side of the rail with a small cap. Unscrew it and stick a rag over it, using a screw driver you can relieve the pressure. Some fuel will come out but not a big deal.
