I've been getting a P0134 code off and on for a while now. Normally, I'd reset the ECU and it'd run just fine with no light for a while. As of recently, I'll reset and it'll come back on after 20 miles or so. Likewise, I've been having some rough idle issues where if I roll up to a light and drop into 1st gear in low RPMs, it seems like the engine sputters a little bit and resets the whole car. Almost as if the car turns off for a split second, then reboots. This only happens a couple times a week, otherwise the car runs excellent and there doesn't seem to be any performance loss or mileage decrease/increase.
So, now it's time to fix the issue. I'm going to order a OBDII scanner today for the future, but for now I'll go to autozone to check to make sure it is the P0134 code again (bank 1 sensor 1, upstream O2 sensor coming off of downpipe). All of this started around the time I removed my resonator (EBD), and around that time, I also cleaned and re-oiled the K&N air filter the previous owner put on the car... now I'm putting the pieces of the puzzle together... Here I was all along thinking the resonator was the culprit, but now I'm starting to think that maybe the MAF sensor is gunked up with oil from the filter and it's causing an O2 sensor P0134 code to throw? Either way, I will start with cleaning the MAF sensor and replacing the K&N filter with a standard filter. If that doesn't work, I'll probably have to replace the O2 sensor. If that doesn't work, then replace MAF sensor? Hopefully it just needs a cleaning and I'll be good, guess I'll find out later today.
EDIT: Maybe before all of this, I should try unplugging the MAF sensor to see if it clears the other code? I realize It'll probably throw a MAF code but at least that way I should be able to determine the MAF sensor as the culprit?
