I was looking at the Volvo web page and the oversea delivery thing got me thinking. I'll be in the market for a V70 2.4T probably early spring next year.
I saw the tourist price was $2430 less MSRP and you get a trip to sweden.
Is this a fixed price or can I haggle?
Do I have to pay sales tax or destination fees?
How long does it take to get from europe to my dealer?
I see some dealers posting in here can you help?
Thanks

Re: Oversea Delivery? What's the facts! (So.CAL AWD)

Hi,
I specialize in selling the Volvo Overseas Delivery Program and can answer your questions.
- Actually Volvo is providing two free round trip airline tickets to Europe.
- The savings is about 8 % off the MSRP.
- The pricing is simple and haggle free.
- Sales tax and registration are not paid until the vehicle is brought back from Europe and the amount paid will vary from region to region in the US depending upon where the vehicle will be registered and how long it was in Europe.
- There is no destination charge. So part of the savings is the $660 destination charge that is on US Volvo retailers in stock vehicles and is an item on Overseas Delivery Volvos.
- It takes four to six weeks after you drop off your Volvo in Euorpe to get it back in the US.
There are many US Volvo dealers who don't participate in the Volvo Overseas Delivery. There is more information about the Overseas Delivery Program here....
http://www.flyvolvo.com
If you have more questions about the program or would like to "See Europe by Volvo and save", please email me. I would be glad to help you with a unique European trip.
William
[email protected]

This is sort of off topic, but I am also from Mission Viejo. What part of Mission Viejo are you from? I'm over by the Felipe Tennis courts, if you know where that is. Look around MV. for a Silver S70 T5 or a Ash Gold S60 T5, probably me. Hope you get the V70, I have loved both my Volvos from the start, they are really great cars.

With the overseas delivery program, do you have to take the trip before the car is delivered to the states, or can you have the car delivered and then take the trip at a later date?

There is a direct shipment program going on right now. No emergency needed. We are also in the "incoming baby" mode, but are not planning an overseas delivery on that item.
My direct shipped overseas delivery XC70 is arriving at my local dealer in the USA, probably late next month. You still get tickets but beware of blackout dates. If you want to travel at a particular time get the agreement on those dates beforehand, because the blackout dates aren't disclosed.

Yes, currently between now and the end of the year you can have your Volvo direct shipped via the Overseas Delivery Program. You would need to make your European trip by April 15, 2003. This is a temporary change in the program. Normally you would have to fly over and take delivery of your Volvo. There are also several pre-built Volvos ready now for European delivery that could be picked up within thirty days or shipped quickly. Any other questions about the Volvo Overseas Delivery Program please post here or email me.
William
[email protected]

Re: Oversea Delivery? What's the facts! (GrecianVolvo)

So I go to a local dealer who's in the program and buy it from them? Then I pay local sales tax on the purchase price? Then I go get delivery in Europe( I want to pick in up in Sweden) then drive around for 2 weeks(Pay a drop off fee if not dropped off in gothenburg). Wait for my car to come.(How long?) Would the dealer take a trade in? Do they do this every year? That about all I want to know. BTW I live at the end of Lapaz at the top of the Hill. Opening day of trout fishing at the lake. Got my limit in 20 min. It's like shooting fish in a barrel. Fishing for the lazy! Gotta love it!!

Re: Oversea Delivery? What's the facts! (854R)

The XC90 was offered for a short time via the Overseas Delivery Program (there were only 50 vehicles allocated for delivery in November and December of this year) but has been removed from the program for a few months because of its limited availability. My Volvo factory rep tells me that they will start processing my customers XC90 Overeseas Delivery orders after the first of the year with deliveries beginning in May of 2003.
William
Re: Oversea Delivery? What's the facts! (William)

Good to know, many thanks. My dealer had said the XC90 won't offer the sales benefits of other cars. Do all overseas deliveries include the airfare/hotel benefits?
Thanks again
