After having read so many posts I must say that I thought I was reading about our trip. No complaints about the flights, service was just fine. Ticket prices were an eye opener. This time of year my two kids cost me an extra $2,400. Volvo's deal got us $400 knocked off the price of each ticket from the original $1,600 per kid!
We Landed in Gothenburg on May 30 and were taken to the Raddison SAS by a Volvo station wagon. Our Factory Delivery Center visit was just like everyone else's I guess, flawless. Folks at the Raddison were very nice and very helpfull. I swear this is the only way I will ever buy another car! Volvo for life!
We started for Orebro for a quick visit on our way to Mora where I was to finally meet a pen-pal that I had been emailing to for the past two years. My ancestors came from Sweden back around 1680. We were in country for about eleven days and all but one were beautiful sunny days. My friend as well as every other Swede that we met was incredibly nice. When you say "Hello," they immediatley convert over to speaking English.
After spending a few days in Mora my family and I took a train to Stockholm for one day and night. Stockholm....very beautiful....very busy. I took the bus tour and it was O.K. I would suggest a walking trip to Gamla Stan. We returned to Mora and toured the Lake Siljan area, very beautiful.
We started back to Gothenburg via Karlstad and Marstrand. Marstrand is a must see sailing community not far from Gothenburg. Didn't see one moose.
One bit of advice. Stay out of downtown areas during "rush hour." This can start as early as 1530 hours. I thought I was safe until 1630. Opps! Other than that, driving in Sweden is a pleasure. I guess 80% of the people obey the traffic laws. Saw enough litter during the whole trip to fill one suitcase. Incredibly clean country. Wish people here in the US acted as civilized. Now we are just waiting for our XC90 to come home. Next we plan on visiting Norway.
A typical view from the highway.

The Castle at Örebro (halfway between Gothenburg and Mora)

The bell tower in Mora.

A home in Tällberg

View of Lake Siljan from Tällberg.

An overcast view of Marstrand.

View from our apartment of other Mora homes

Modified by Ameriswede at 11:38 AM 7-8-2006

Modified by Ameriswede at 11:39 AM 7-8-2006

Modified by Ameriswede at 11:45 AM 7-8-2006

Modified by Ameriswede at 11:46 AM 7-8-2006

Modified by Ameriswede at 12:03 PM 7-8-2006

Modified by Ameriswede at 12:09 PM 7-8-2006

Easiest way to post a picture is to go to a free photo hosting service (I use http://www.photobucket.com) and setup an account to upload your pictures to. Once you do that, you can post either a link (like in my sig) to the photo album, or an IMG tag (you copy the IMG info from your hosting service into your post here) to have the picture displayed in your post, like this:
Enjoy!

Re: (Bobalouie3)

Time for an update. We tracked our XC90 for a Brunswick arrival on July 3. It cleared Customs by July 6th. (Holiday and all!!!) We called the Customs agent and she called the trucking company for us. The car arrived at the Winter Park, Florida Volvo Store on July 10. We were able to pick it up on July 12.
We picked it up today at 2:00 pm. Horrrrray Beer!!!
During the delivery inspection at the dealership, we noticed a very, very small dent or ripple on the right front quarter panel. We were given a form to file a claim to get it resolved. Not sure what that is going to entail.
Carl Braun, the OSD guy at the Winter Park store has just been fantastic. Very nice and very helpful!!
While we were at the store, I could not help but sit in an S60. Hmmmmm... I think that next year I may need to try the S60 on a Sweden, Norway, Germany trip!!
Whole experience was about the best I have ever had.
