Looking to buy an XC90 V8 in the coming months (waiting for 07). I've talked with some people here locally about their respective dealership experiences, mostly on the service side.
I'm more interested in the service experience (quality of issue resolution, general feel about the quality of service, professionalism, etc.) than the sales experience. The sales experience is a one time deal and my experience has been that you just have to know what you want, how you want it and what you want to pay for it. Unfortunately many (not all) salesman are just that, salesman (even at a Lexus dealership I visited recently...games there as well so I just walked out). I'm not too fond of dealing with salesman who have to write their names on their cards which is all too often the case
Any sharing of experiences on the service side for OC dealerships would be much appreciated, thanks!

Re: Orange County, CA dealerships (volvolocity9)

We did OSD with Volvo of Orange County. Dave Wheeler was the OSD (they refer to it as TDS - Tourist Delivery Service) representative. He is very helpful and knowledgable.
The sales manager we use (Ben Dailey) is superb. He's a real white-glove service kind of guy, who isn't satisfied unless things are done correctly.
We didn't use any of the regular sales-people, so caveat emptor !
Good luck.

Re: Orange County, CA dealerships (safetyfirst)

The best service people are Volvo of Orange County in Santa Ana. Their people are friendly and are quick in figuring out what's wrong.
I also used Shelly Volvo for servicing. . .while friendly, they didn't seem to know Volvos as well as the Santa Ana folks.
I will say that Shelly does have the best saleman I ever dealt with. . .but I'm not sure if Mike is there any more.
we bought ours at power volvo in cerritos. service reps are good. service techs tend to be a little rushed so you got to write down specific items you need to have checked.
