Options common for a S40 on the lot.

Some options are found more often on a car that the dealer has on its lot than others, so I'm wondering how popular is the DSTC and xenon lights on a T5 AWD?

And are there two different types of automatic transmissions? On a local dealer's website, it seemed like on the 2005s, there were two types of autoboxes- the regular automatic and the geartronic. I thought the autobox was always geartronic.

Option mix is likely going to depend on your location. Here in the South (Houston), for example, I doubt we'll see many cars equipped with the climate package. For that matter, since you mentioned the T5 AWD, dealers here haven't gotten a single one of those at all yet. As to the specific options you mentioned, I saw only a small handful of cars with xenons and never saw one with DSTC (unfortunately, as I wanted to test it). I imagine DSTC might be a bit more common in your area of the country, though.

As for the automatic, yes, all 2004.5 and 2005 S40s (T5 and 2.4i models both) have the Geartronic as the only automatic transmission available. I've found the dealer inventory search to be virtually useless in telling what options really are on the cars in stock.

DSTC is probably found on 1% of the cars in-stock. Bi-xenons on a T5 AWD, I would venture out to say anywhere from 20% to 50%. Depends on the region and the retailer. I need to order more cars with DSTC but most people do not care for it. About 60% of my AWD cars are configured with Bi-Xenons.

Always geartronic. S60s and V70s come with two different automatics.

Yeah, I think my dealer has more T5 AWD than T5 FWD.

Yeah, those dealer websites are a bit off- I saw one car that I might buy but I think it's missing an option I want. When I build the S40 on Volvo's website, the price is ~$33,800 but the car that looks like the one I want on their lot is cheaper by a couple hundred dollars, so I'm guessing something is missing. Either that or the dealer is selling it a bit below Volvo's "official" price. But I doubt that.

At the dealer I first went to, all but one T5 had the premium package (leather and moon roof). Done had DSTC, about half had the premium audio package. Only 3 had the sport package (17" wheels and tighter suspension). It was hard to find a dealer who had a the options I wanted. The sales guy said the only reason they hadn't sold it was because it seemed to have a weird mix of options. It had everything except for leather and DSTC. I guess most of the people who wanted it loaded wanted leather as well.

Those exactly the three I have: Premium, Climate, and Audio.

I wanted to buy off the lot rather than order b/c I was convinced I could get a much better deal on the last weekend of the month with that was there (the 2005s were on their way, too...).

Almost everything here in Chicago had those three packages. The question was really what color do you want and if you wanted a T5.
