Ive been working on these for a few weeks now, finally got them looking correct and mounted up.

What do you all think?

I still have to put the winglets back on, I think that will really help balance it out, make them look less chunky (since there will be another few inches of black below them as well).

PS if this catches on, you all can simply call it the " 'Cake mod" ;)

I've always liked mesh grilles, nice work.

I would like it more though if the mesh was different and more like the Jaguar OEM mesh for their grilles, I am biased by my XJR's grille I suppose

I would try to duplicate the jaguar mesh if I did this myself, I like the thinner mesh myself.

overall nice work though

I like it just how you did it. Although I could see doing the FMIC. You should plasti-coat them to see how it looks!

Edit: That leather just looks too damned sexy!

I purposely left the IC grille black because I didnt want to over-brighten the front. Between the headlights, grille and fog grilles, thats alot of brushed metal for a black car.

I do love the Jaguar mesh, but to me, it always will be "Jaguar Mesh" and I'd feel like a poser putting it on the R.

i think your fmic is missing, thats what i think. (i know you have ipd one according to sig) doesn't balance well imo. maybe when winglets are on i'll change my tune. doesn't look bad, just not clean.

Looks a lot like the Elevate grilles. Not sure they look good as they don't have much depth, unlike the OEM Jag grilles. Perhaps painted in black they would look better.
If I paint them black, you wont even see them. Can you see the mesh pattern of the IC grille? I cant, but its there.

And Yes, they would look like the Elevate grilles bc the mesh pattern is almost identical. but I dont like the Evolve nose, I much prefer the OEM nose, but I wanted to do something different to brighten up the fog light area, other than paint the plastic grilles silver....

I like it. Now you need to get rid of the orange reflectors on the head lights.

I'd go with either a gunmetal grey mesh or black like the intercooler mesh. Too much silver for me, especially being on a black car.

That's actually a really good idea, and I'm inclined to agree with you. What do you think of painting it Ti-Gray, just to keep it consistent with Volvo colors?

Also, once your winglets are back on you should probably install a center splitter too! It will help with the balance ;)

That might look good, though I'm not sure the metallic paint would look grillish enough. I like the more darker pewter colored metal even like what anthracite pegs have, oooo that might look nice. Volvo sells the Anthracite paint too.

LOL youve never driven in Boston, have you! I'd rather spend the money on strippers at Centerfolds, since the net effect will be the same for me as buying the splitter and having it die a horrible death on Rt 1A...

YES! I was totally thinking of going with Anthracite for the wheels, so let me ask you: would it be too much if I went anthracite on Wheels AND all 4 grilles? ( main, IC, and 2 x fogs)

Nope. Never driven in Boston. Never been to Boston or much of the east coast... Too afraid of getting an East infection :p Plus living in a ski resort town, the east comes to me (and the Californians)

Not too much. I think it would look really good, just don't go too dark with the Antracite and find a paint that's got some fine metallic flake.

It should look tight.
