Re: Only 3 windows go down when open key is held... (chromecarz00)
Have you ever had your door harnesses replaced per the recent TNN about odd door, window, and lock failures? May be related. I didnt even know they did this lol

Am i doing something wrong?

Yea, you have to push the unlock button twice and hold it down the second time. Thats how it works...
Talk about odd window functions... For a week now, when I lock my car (all windows up) I'll come back to my car in ~1 hour later and the back to windows have rolled themselves down... wtf??? One night I got home, locked my car, went outside and checked em an hour later and they were still up. The next morning I went outside and they were down. ERRRRRR!
What to do?
Take the car in to the dealer and have them scan it for codes. If you have numerous DDM, PDM, and CEM door lock/window function codes stored you need the door harnesses replaced. There is a TNN regarding this and ive done countless and all have been fixed once the ****ty old door harnesses are replaced.
Oh and ive tried this as well with no success. Unlocking and holding the second time as you have mentioned. Sure you dont have some strange features i dont know about lol. Ive never heard of and S40 doing this until you mentioned it haha
Tech Net Note now called technical journals. Basically just diagnostic tips that volvo issues when more than one case has been opened regarding the issue. These are not recalls as recalls are mandated by federal law.

I didnt even know the car was capable of it till I read this thread! thanks but sorry for the bad news

You can also close the windows with holding down CLOSE-button. Sorry about the OT.
I once had the similiar problem as OP, rolled down and up the window manually and it has worked since.
