Hi, I have a 2005 S40 2.4i Right hand drive. I have searched through the forum on the same topic but I'm not sure if the same solution applied to my situation. I have the issue of the courtesy/footwell staying on longer on one side (ie. Left Passenger). One of the footwell light doesn't go off immediately after i lock the car from outside. It took another 20-30 seconds to shut off while the rest of the interior light (inclusive of the Driver's Footwell light) goes off immediately I lock the car or i started the car.

This happened after i changed my interior light to LED bulb. On this particular footwell bulb, i had difficulty remove the original halogen bulb and eventually broke the bulb. I went ahead and replace the whole footwell light bracket(both sides of footwell light) to something like this:

But still the problem persists. Since it only happened to one side of the footwell light, it makes me believe it is something to do on the harness or wiring now. I'm not sure where I should begin to troubleshoot. Any guidance here is very much appreciated.

Thank you for reading my thread.

Idk, that kind of sounds normal IMO. As long as it shuts off then I'd call it good...I had different lower quality but smaller ones in my backseat that would take significantly longer to shut off than the front footwells...when I changed them to more quality ones similar to the fronts, everything shut off at the same time.

It sounds like the one that stays on has the least amount of resistance when compared to the others so they go out earlier and the juice just drains through that one bulb till it runs out.

Thanks avenger09123. What caused me to scratch my head is both sides of the footwell light has been installed with the same LED. But only the passenger side is behaving weird. I just hope it's not a grounding issue that causes battery drain.
