Has anyone here used the Dice electronics universal integration kit? It seems pretty decent, and I know Dice is a reputable company. I'm interested in the "pro" install method. I'd love to hear from anyone who has used it!

I don't think it is possible to use this since our cars use fiber optic connections at the front. The site says nothing about compabilility with fiber optics.

Wrong. That kit uses antenna adapters similar to the 9v grochef FM modulator method. Which is basically what that is, a purpose built FM modulator for directly connecting to your antenna cables. The antenna connectors are accessible on the back of the dash unit and that kit looks very promising. A bit pricey though, but it does RDS, might be worth looking into. Group buy? Donation fund for me to try it out?

Aren't the antenna cables for our cars attached in the rear window? I am still not sure how this really works. Where does it attach to in the front?

The antenna is in the glass, there are two cables coming off that go in to the AFM(AM/FM Module) then two more come out and continue along the headliner, all the way to the front in the dash where the antenna signal is received by the tuner and processed, the RDS info is decoded, and the signal is routed through the DSP and out through the speakers. The connections on the back of the tuner(which is most likely in the front on all audio systems) are just standard antenna cables, as the signal is just a standard antenna signal. This just transmits a stronger signal over top of the signals coming through from the antenna. If I can find one here in town that I can just return if it doesn't work, I'll try it ASAP.

Some dude from Dension founded DICE(probably to escape the bad rap Dension has gotten with their flying circus we are all familiar with) DICE also offers a MOST compatible system, but its for Benz and Porsche right now. Volvo = NEVER. Don't even think about holding your breath. I'll believe it when I plug one in to my car and it works properly.

The FM modulators should output through the standard FM antenna plug which is not in our cars (not in mine at least). The back window method makes use of 9V battery adapters, so I ended up cutting the antenna wires from the modulator and soldering the 9V battery adapters on them, no way to return the modulator after cutting the cables on them.

Ohhhh sanatarium...please do try this if you can! I am so desperate for a quality sound without paying out the rear...this does look promising.

This would be cool if it works. And I was right, DICE and Dension are partners, or at least Dension is a DICE distributor of some sorts. The price tag for the DICE system for MOST system-equipped cars is still around $400 according to a few places online. But I guess for those who can't use the Gateway 500 (those with basic sound system) this is an awesome possibility. Good luck! Whoever tries it out, keep us posted!

I has no money for this objekt. Plus if I don't like it/it doesn't work, returning products online is a pain in the bum. Someone else has to test it, I literally can't eat till Friday because I have no money haha. <3 College. Having Atreus wheels is worth it though.

Sanatarium, I'm up for trying this, but I have ZERO experience with the radio system in the S40/V50 as I just bought the V50. Can anyone show me where the access for the FM cable is? I don't know where I'd tap into for ignition and switched 12V power, but I have a brother in law whose awesome and willing to help. Pics would be appreciated!

Best buy has the metra adapters you may need.

12v tap is easy, there might even be one on the right side of the boot in your car.
