My 2001 XC70 2.4T AWD that has been standing still for a month or two awaiting new brakes threw a "lost oil pressure, stop immediately" warning at me today after 15 minutes of driving.
The warning was in Swedish so I don't know exactly how it would have been worded in English.

The car still sounded fine, no rattling from the valve lifters.
The oil was at a perfect level and I could not see any leaks.
I noticed no extra smoke from the exhaust.
A slight hot or burnt smell could be detected but i'm pretty sure that was from the new brakes.

When i started the engine after giving her the once-over there was no warning and everything still seemed fine.

IF i really lost the oil pressure wouldn't the lifters be one of the first things that would start making noise?
