Well I believe I found the reason for the consumption of a little more than 2 quarts in the first 10k miles on my new 2015.5 XC70.
Oil is leaking from the driver's side near the top of the engine somewhere.
It's going to the dealership tomorrow (see my other post). Does anyone want to hazard a guess as to what's leaking?
On the bright side, I guess it's not burning it!

Thanks everyone. I'm certainly not happy, but I'm not sure how unhappy to be...

I'll have to check under my engine cover, as I have had to add ~3/4 qt. to my T6 in the first 2000 mi. My car came about 1/4 quart overfilled from new and I just added a 1/2 qt. recently to bring it back up to the full line on the dip stick. I know a lot of new motors will burn some when new, but given the history of these motors, It's worth a check. Thanks for the pics...

That sucks. My guess is exhaust cam seal popped out.

Good luck!

It sounds as if your engine is an unfortunate anomaly. The T6 has been largely bullet-proof for most owners, including myself. But hey, that's why dealerships have service departments. In any event, I would insist on inspecting the engine before signing off on the repair and expect a complete cleanup of the mess to have been made. If they don't get it right the first time around, that would be a sure sign that you need to find another dealership to service your car and buy your next one.

Same thing happened to me. My mechanic said I blew a seal.... I told him to mind his own business and fix my car!

Seriously though, good thing it happened under warranty, I hope it all gets sorted out.
Nice!

Just to close the loop. The dealer repaired. They cleaned up the top end of the engine fairly well. There's still some pockets of grime down lower that they didn't get, but they also aren't as anal as me about detailing the engine compartment (go figure). Time will tell. Let's see how much oil she goes through in the next 10k miles.

Now for the next problem... In servicing my rear camera it looks like they've stripped both screws. The camera is now lose with some play. I thought they just left it lose, but in trying to tighten it up I see the screws are stripped and the backer material appears to be some sort of white foam or plastic that's given out. There's also no rubber gromet or seal. It was just plastic camera insert right on outside body panel. That seems odd to me too.

Not sure how they're going to fix that one.

Sounds like they need to replace all of the mounting parts of the camera. Sloppy work. Time for another drip to the dealer!

Remember this is your new car. They need to restore it to it's new condition in my opinion. I'd want any signs of that oil leak cleaned up and their sloppy camera work fixed as mentioned with a new mount. Why should you compromise?
