I was noticing some oil leaking for a few weeks. I took to an independent volvo mechanic to have a look. He traced the oil leak the camshaft seal. It was a quite a bit of labor to do the work, plus since it was all open I also did the timing belt and water pump. (suv is a 2006 with about 105K miles).

When I brought it home yesterday, I noticed I still had an oil leak. In fact, it was more that before!!!

Anyone have any idea, or experience with this? My mechanic thinks it could be the camhub. I was thinking it could be a clogged pvc system forcing oil out.

Any help would be appreciated!!

thx.

Well if you replaced the cams seals it should not leak anymore. The clog pcv can produce oil leaks but not that fast. Are younsure he didi a good job replacing the seals?. You can see if the pcv is bad by removing the oil stick at normal temp with the engine running. If you see smokencoming out from the stick tube its time to do a pcv job.

Yes, that isn't a problem. He is a good guy. He is a bit perplexed as to what it could be. He think it may be the camhub. I'm hoping it isnt as it is an expensive part. I was really wondering if other members have had oil leaks, and what the problem could have been.

I have a feeling the cam seal may not have been installed properly.

He injected a dye, and will trace it tomorrow.

It's easy to have a brain fart and install the seal backwards.
