Re: OIL consumption... (TurboMoose)

Well,my car was '94 GLT,I bought an engine with unknown kilometres. It looked to be good.A nice evening I had increased the turbo pressure too much, with 4th gear the gauge was over 1,4bar.I was driving all night against other cars,so next morning on my way to work I put 3rd from 4th to accelerate fast and a noise started from the engine. It was like nissan bluebird diesel. When the engine got cold the noise was louder,it was like a"dead"connecting rod.So I decided to disassemble the engine to check and repair.I changed everything except the pistons.I sent the crank and the rods for a check-up,and finally the problem was the oil pump!!!high pressure. Now since then I've changed 4 types of oil.first shell 15w-50, 1litre/1000km,then shell 5w-40 1lt/1000km and a bit more, then motul 300V 15w-50 1lt/1000km,and finally now volvo 15w-40 550gr/1000km.

Not installing new pistons was foolish.
You probably have a bad ring now

Re: OIL consumption... (JRL)

What exactly do you mean,by saying bad rings?
the pistons were in very good situation, even the piston rings,I changed for better. If it was something from the rings I souldn't have good performance,is that right?
