My 2011 T6 has been flawless from an engine perspective. Bought it CPO with 19,000 km on it, now I have 57,000 after 2 years.

When I bought it the dealer gave me so many free oil change coupons, it took me until this summer to use them all up (dino oil).

So for my first PAID oil change, I asked to have synthetic. I used to check my oil regularly, and even at 7500 km intervals, the dipstick always read smack in the middle, so no oil consumption. Now, 3 months agh 4000 km into my synthetic change, I got the "low oil level" warning. I checked and sure enough, oil was 1 to 1.5 quarts down! I filled it up right away with more synthetic.

Question: is this normal that switching from dino to synthetic would increase oil consumption?

Switching shouldnt cause any consumption. In fact on some T5 engines with consumption, Volvo switched them too synthetic after a piston replacement. Are you sure it was full after the oil change? Techs make mistakes and maybe they didnt get it all the way full.
