Hello folks.

Yesterday, I was driving around town in a really hard rain. After running a few errands, I came out and started my V50 T5, only to briefly be greeted by an oil smell. It dissipated after about 3 seconds.

No problem for a one time deal.

However, it has happened every time I have started the car since.

Anyone ran into this issue or fixed it?

There are no visible leaks under the car from what I can tell, however I’m gonna be getting it up on a lift this evening.

Usually, smells that appear briefly in the cabin at startup are coming in through the forward vents in the cowl. One common one is an exhaust manifold leak, these seal up rapidly as the head-to-manifold flange warms.

Try putting the system in recirculate and/or turning off the fan before starting, see if things change. Might help you narrow it down.
