Oil blow-by - what exactly is it?

The seals in the turbo allow a very small amount of oil to seep by and this gets pushed throughout your charge piping. If the seals are shot, you will have excessive oil in these areas.

An inline filter is more than a band-aid. It is a good idea since you cannot avoid blow-by. Small price for turbocharged performance

I was pumped when I pulled my intercooler piping for some other work and found no oil inside at all. And this is after 6 months with the new turbo.

I would check your PCV system first. Have you seafoamed it?

It is a very rare occurrence but pretty cool. I remember one of the guys who was part of the SoCal FMIC group had ZERO oil or filming on the inside of his stock charge piping. "Factory Freak" turbo seals
