Here is a scan of the three page accessory bulletin. It is dated November 2002. I am guessing it is the most up to date.

Hope this helps. Oh and just to let you know. Part number 9451817-2. The AWD shock absorbers are most definitely adjustable. Must have been a typo.

Re: Ohlin's info from Volvo dealer - for those interested (petew)

Hey Petew:
The Ohlin rear shocks I have are part number 9451817. They are listed for only the 99-00 models. I don't think there were any changes in the rear between 98 and 99.
I think that the AWD rear shock absorbers were developed after the 98 model year and are therefore only listed for 99 on. Correct me if I am wrong, as far as I know there is no difference between the 98 and 99 rear suspensions.
I will be replacing the Nivomats with the part number listed above. The rest of my suspension upgrades will include ipd springs, sway bars, and skid plate. I will also be using an OMP strut brace.
I will definitely keep you informed.

Looks like the myvolvoparts.com pricing was pretty good.
So, for AWD Rs we need:
9204201-9 : front shock kit - $970
9451817-2 : rear shock kit - $725
OMP strut tower bar : $100
Optional ?:
IPD Springs or other brand of lower springs : $xxx.xx
According to that sheet: R models are excluded from rear spring upgrade requirement
Looks like the myvolvoparts.com pricing was pretty good. Yes it most definitely was.
So, for AWD Rs we need: The following prices are what I paid. All OEM Volvo equipment was bought from www.myvolvoparts.com.
9204201-9 : front shock kit - $970 (I just looked on myvolvoparts and these are now listed at $850)
9451817-2 : rear shock kit - $725 (I just looked on myvolvoparts and these are now listed at $680)
OMP strut tower bar : $100
Spoiler: $144
IPD Springs, skidplate, engine mount bushing, new engine mounts, new control arm bushings, shipping: $782
According to that sheet: R models are excluded from rear spring upgrade requirement It looks that way. I think that is why the ipd springs will work.

quote:
Can we use our stock springs with this kit?

I don't know for sure, but from the info in the bulletin it seems that you can. But if you are going to spend the money on the Ohlin's (which if you get from myvolvoparts will be even cheaper than what I paid), why not spend another $280 for some ipd springs and get better handling and get rid of that damn wheel gap. You are going to have to remove the stock struts, shocks and springs. I would just get the new springs too. But I digress. If you want to use the stock springs, I don't see why not.
