Seriously if you have 56k and driving a R, get your priority straight.

Oh my MAF was naughty. It played around in the oil too long.... Sorry for the big pics. But it needed attention to detail. 60k miles...

Here comes CRC to the RESCUE

Ahhh Clean at last......

F*CK you Tamperproof Torx.

I purchased my CRC Cleaner from NAPA, but please note that IPD does sell it as well. So if your doing some cleaning, pick up a can because its really something you should look into cleaning.

Instructions

Take out MAF

Take off lid to CRC Maf cleaner

Use little red straw

Shake can

Test spray.

Use in small sprays 4" away from MAF and Element

Let it drip out as you do one side at a time.

Let it dry.... *wave your MAF in the air like you don't care*...but don't drop the MAF. Or your gonna be mad.

Clean MAF tube.

Re-install.

Did it fix any of your problems? Any difference?

Dunno, my downpipe was missing 1 bolt, and one almost completely backed out. So I have a gigantic leak right at the turbo.

I think that has something to do with it too.

I can't say I've heard too many stories about missing downpipe bolts. I think whoever took your DP bolt also stole my one Volvo valve stem caps. Call 911!

Its my fault....

I'm gonna loctite them upon replacement. Trying to figure out which Graphite Remflex gasket to order.

I'm gonna peek in the turbo to see if i'm losing coolant and or oil through there.

Would you like me to Loctite your Valvestem caps?

If it makes you feel better i noticed one of my bolts almost completely unscrewed itself from my dp too...Luckily i caught it and tightened it this weekend. I would have thought those things would have seized in there pretty good by now... Guess not

Here is one that will actually work. People should be more careful about recommending parts that they haven't used/purchased themselves. I bought my 5-lobe tamper proof torx bit from metalnerd.com and used it to clean my MAF last year, so I know it works.

Part MN505000 - 5 Lobe MAF Bit

Cheers,

$13.75 on Amazon, found it for $10 at a local parts store.

THIS IS THE CORRECT INFO FOR THE R's MAF BOLT

However, with the MAF Tube out of the car, you can horizontall use a pair of pliers to carefully turn them out.

I did this, and replaced them with normal screws.
