Anyone else have a leaky moon roof? I washed my car the other day and now there are water stains in my headliner. Yes, my moon roof was closed fully.

I can see the gap between the weather stripping and the roof. It's not huge, but sufficient to let water in... I'd say 1/2 mm.

It looks horrible with the brown stains on my grey headliner. It's rainy season now too. It's going to the shop in a couple of weeks (only time they have available with a loaner).

I'm very annoyed.

wow that really sucks... hope this isn't a widespread problem, but it definitely is one I considered when deciding to get this option on my car.

On some other cars, I've heard that not using the moonroof regularly may cause this to happen, any truth to that? I find myself using the moonroof tilt function a lot, and I love having it.

Hope it doesn't cost too much to fix...

I'm almost certain i've seen this issue on here before but cant find it on a quick search!
have a look around but def a known issue for one or two people.

can only think that the seal might have dried up and cracked over time of not opening/closing it but hardly a customer fault!

Did you happen to have wind-noise related issues on your moonroof? Maybe whistling while going 60+mph?

check the drain holes to see if they are plugged up.

EDIT This was posted in the archives:
Not sure if this is the cause of you're leaks, but I'm fairly certain it cased the two leaks I recently discovered. If you open the sunroof, there are two pen-sized holes in the left and right front corners of the sunroof frame. Unfortunately, mine were clogged and were the probable cause for two leaks I had. The tech performing the 7500 miles service the other day discovered the problem. He also described that these two drains pass the water (during acceleration) in ducts under the roof to the tailgate area for disposal. In any event, you may want to give those drains a quick look.

Re: (jpm)

Not the moonroof, but had a similar probelm, a Window seal failed during three days of heavy snow
roof and A pillar were stained from the water, still not found the best way to get it out

Good luck with it
I know how you feel!
