Any reason why the same insurer/agent would quote me $1250 for a 2016 Xc90 Inscription and $2000 for a brand new Xc40 momentum?

First car was $60k, second is $40k.

That does seem expensive. Even allowing for engines I just renewed my fully loaded D4 XC40 in the UK for £256 or $321 fully protected.

$2k to insure an XC40? I guess I'll stick with my insurer (Liberty Mutual) - I quoted an XC40 with them and it came in at $650.

Yeah when I was with Allstate they wanted 1200 for my Xc40 RD fully loaded and I was not having that so I switched to Geico and it went down to 494 and I get Mechanical Breakdown Insurance too.

Insurance is all about the risk and extent of damage that you may cause to other cars on road.

It is likely XC90 drivers historically cause less trouble than predicted XC40 young drivers.

And insurance companies look at all other drivers in your town, not specific you.

Geico for my two brand new Volvos is $108/month.

Shop around.

You age and location matters as well.
