does this even exsist? has anyone done this with like a 740 motor into the 240 gearbox? i saw someone selling a "240 electric sunroof kit" on ebay, but it had the part number of a 740 sunroof motor. are they making this up?

Re: odd time for this but 240 w/ electric sunroof? (Camyman)

None were equipped like this from the factory, but there was indeed a dealer option of power sunroof for the 240. It very likely uses the same motor as the 740, but there is a 240-specific rocker switch for the center stack.

I have a dash in storage for an 80 Volvo GT. It has a 160 mph ( I think ) speedo, tach, water temp, oil temp-pressure, voltmeter, and all the typical idiot lights that come on a volvo. I paid 220 bucks for the thing. I have to get it fixed cause the ex broke the circuit board or get a new one....It wont work in a 90 though. Its the small cluster for the 75-80 240's. I should hope to have an other 242 GT in the future.

Re:

The sunroof is a very very rare find in a 240. That being said, looking for any one model will leave you with nothing. They were dealer installs, so any model could have gotten one.

Every so often they come up on Ebay, but go for 150-200 each.

Also hard to find are 86+ power mirrors.

.....wait do you mean power sunroof, because im like 99.9999999999999% sure that the sunroof was standard on the 240. i know that the power mirrors are hard to find (which sucks because i wanted to put puddle lights in them) but ive just never seen a 240 with a power sunroof. does anyone know if volvo still carries this at dealers? were these available in europe? im tempted to look on ebay.de and ebay.co.uk for these but would they be the same part?

Yes i mean power sunroof.

This was a dealer only option and they are not available as dealer parts anymore. You can only find them on Ebay USA or via web-boards.

Puddle lights? If by that you mean lights that shine on the ground, then you can do that with any set of 1986+ lights. they are the same body, you just have to open them, mount a light and run wires through the door. It's easy. I've done it on both kinds of mirrors, my power mirrors and my non-power.

The next trick is going to be installing high output LEDs along the outside lip of the mirror, for turn signals.

Re: Re: (volvostud)

curses.... then i shall have to make heated mirrors for 86+ models. as to when i dont know. i have to figure it out first. because i started this thread i feel that i may jack it and ask this.

now im sure youve seen the ads for the new buick lucerne with the heated washer fluid that melts snow. heres my question. how hard would it be to replicate this on a 240? id imagine its not terribly hard just add a heating element to the tank with a thermostat and maybe a switch (dont need it hot in the summer right?) would this work or am i forever bound to scrape ice off my windshield myself?

Re: Re: (Camyman)

Heres a way to heat that water. Add a second washer pump from the tank to a coil of tubing around the exhaust and back to the tank. put a thermostate in the tank and run the pump untill the water is hot enough. Less electric power then a heater in the tank!
