So, I make the short trip down the Autobahn to the ARAL station because I can use my SuperPlus coupons to buy ARAL 100. But my question is...

Is this still just 98RON (note sticker that says 98ROZ). Is the "100" just a marketing gimmick? Are they saying there are additives that make it equivalent to 100RON?

98RON~94Octane if you have been under a rock recently.

Re: Octane question for German speakers... ("R" Kelly)

It sort of says that it equals 98. In other words safe for those who normally use 98.
At least that is what I make out of it.

The lower sticker says that it is rated higher or performing better than the DIN EN 228 spec.

That's the exact stuff I filled in Germany. The R was never happier.
You're going to miss it when you move to Florida!!

It is reformulated ARAL brand and is basically tested to be 100 RON which is the reason for the name.

The sticker just says it exceeds the requirements for 98 RON unleaded super plus you are used to using

Yeah, 96 octane for the price of 91 is pretty nice.

Kelly, find some 100 octane in FL ( I bet they have some near Daytona if you are moving there).
My fueling ritual has become almost comical. I drive miles out of my way to a 76 station that has "trick" gas (101 octane). So 5-6 gallons of that, then I head down the street to Chevron to complete the fueling process.
A mid-air refuling for an F16 is less complicated!

I do the same, but I got smart fast and bought a great $14 5Gal gas can. Only have to run out of my way every 2 tanks

Yes, to the bathroom. Wait, that isn't entirely true...

I alternate between the Aral 100 and 93 on post and to be honest have never felt a difference in performance. *shrug* Maybe I just don't get on it hard enough.

Re: Octane question for German speakers... (CSW)

So you're saying that we can use our AAFES super plus 98/ 93 octane to purchase the 100 at ARAL (on the autobahn)? never knew that. I assumed it was 2 points more our coupons wouldn't work or at least we'd have to pay the differance or something. I guess this is like us 94 octane??? BTW , your 93 "on post" = 98 off post , it's only one octane point higher BUT for the same price why not???

If you look at octane stickers on post, you will see that 91 RON is actually 86.8. They do that so people will feel see that it is close enough to 87 to feel comfortable putting it in their cars. But the difference is only 4.2, not 5. So, 98 is really 93.8.

ARAL 100 is their SuperPlus, so putting it in is like putting 95.8 (96) octane in your car. And you should know that you can use gas coupons at all Esso, and all Autobahn BP / Aral stations.
