I notice a lot fo you guys work with Volvo's everyday whether it's at a dealer or whatever. I am curious where everyone works. Could you guys post where you work and what you do ? Also how long you have been involvoed with Volvo's. So far this is the best forum i have found relative to Volvo's.

I used to work at Bob Penkhus Volvo in Colorado Springs, Co. I got involved with Volvo's from working there 2 and a half years ago. I now work at a GM dealer in Sunnyvale, Ca. GM's suck by the way

I havn't decided what field yet, as that is going to be the hard part!
-Drew

I am originally from Greece, came here to go to college when I was 19. Started working at Stillman Volvo as a Sales Consultant in May 1994. Prior to that I was working as an Exercise Physiologist; I have a Master's degree in Exercise Science with concentration in Rehabilitation of Orthopeadic Injuries and Cardiac Rehabilitation. Could not make enough money to justify my 7 years of College education so I accidentaly moved into auto sales. After 3 years I became a Sales Manager at Stillman Volvo in West Chester, PA...just South of Philadelphia and too damn close to Phil's Keystone! Hehehe! We have established quite a rivalry and we love being a big thorn on their side! Keeps the juices flowing. BTW, Phil, I think you guys know very well that you are...CONDEMNED to live the rest of your lives with the Moroccans since they have been BANNED from our place so...best of luck! Hehehe!
As far as color combos, I do like Silver w/ Graphite interior but they are too common. Everyone likes Silver/Graphite. The best colors, IMO, are Nautic Blue w/ Light Beige (very classy and very European) and, of course, Red w/ Graphite...very European and very SPORTY!
Yannis

For a year beginning in August 2000, I was an unpaid test pilot for Volvo. Immediately following that, I was an unpaid litigator for a couple of months. Recently I returned to my previous positions as unpaid father, and driver of a fully operational vehicle.

I am a Process Engineer at a telecom startup in Maryland. Our company is part of a 3-company strategic alliance. We are the hardware provider and developer. In fact we are only one of maybe 2 companies in the world building a switch with a certain feature-set. I've been in the electronic manufacturing industry for 10+ years. Pretty much done everything from working as a machine technician to management as well as am the board of directors for another local startup. Generally I stick with contract manufacturing since I love the competitive spirit but small private industry is fun too. Let’s see, I have also spent time (7-years part-time) on a NASCAR race team. I have done everything from engine building, operating/ tuning with a dyno, chassis setup and repair, bodywork, and many victory laps. (Our team won the points race 6 out of 7 years.)
Actually, I just bought my first Volvo 13-months ago. Bought my second one last week. Seeing that I love a good challenge, I bought my 854 T5 with 164K miles on it. It barely ran and had some serious issues. Now the car has 203K miles, 261 HP at the wheels, 27 MPG, and is sweet. Best part is the fact I did 99% of the work myself. (Combo of being cheap and too proud to let someone else touch my car.) Must be a mechanic thing...dunno?
So anyhow...that is just a little about me. FWIW, I have really been having a blast with swedespeed and all of the people I have met through it. All of the people I have met on this board have been top-notch and pretty damn cool.
BTW, Phil...My parents just bought a '98 V70 (blue) from your dealer! It took me 6-months to sell them on the idea of another Volvo. (Avid Honda fans!?) Well, needless to say, the Honda has not been driven since the delivery of the V70. They love it! Anyhow...I am in the area all the time...maybe I'll introduce myself one of these days. (I was there on 11/23 or 11/24 and bought my SC-901 head unit and other goodies!)
Well TTYL
Prospero
My occupation? Secret agent for US government by day, professional pimp by night.
Alright alright...that's just silly Kai talking on a tiring Monday evening.
Don't even know how to describe my position in the company, no exact accurate title for all the stuff I do in this company. They throw me the Director of Business Development when there's important customers visiting. The other times, I'm just one of the other guys in the office, but just takes care of more things than the others. It's always hard to explain when you work in smaller firm.
Me...I dunno anything about cars, just spent way to much money on my car. Had the shop people going through my car like it's been raped. Never on any race team, not even a r1ce boy team. Hardly worked on my car myself, not that I have $$$ to blow, just too chickent to screw up my car. I get only 18 mpg if I'm lucky. HP? Who knows..not much I guess. Did about 1% of work on my car.
LOL...you know I'm just play with you, you know who.

Phil,
Small world, eh!? Thanks for giving them such a good deal. You made my parents very, very happy! I will be around during the Christmas holiday. I plan on installing a CD changer in the V70 as part of their gift. Also will be doing some other helpful things for them while there.
Well, I'm glad to see that you support and really have an interest in what you sell/ do. Kudos! If more people actually took this approach, the world would be so much better. I hope to bump into you in the future. It seems like you and I could have a bit to talk about. (I'm still shocked about how small the world is...everyone knows everyone it seems.)
Prospero

Well, I am a full-time high school student.. haha, my hours are 8-2:45, long day, huh?
This summer, June to September, I will be working at Gold Coast Volvo as a salesman. Why you ask? haha... when we bought this car, the manager realized that I knew more about volvos than he did, so he asked me if I would like to work there, I agreed to it... I guess I'll find out how people react to a teenager selling them a $30k+ car.
As for color combos, I'm partial to my car... with the Bright Red exterior, and tan leather interior. The only thing I would like to change, eventually, is the rims.

I went along with my mom when she was finalizing the buying of her '00 VW Passat from CarMax, and one of the managers gave me a business card and asked if I was interested in a job (our salesman was my age, about 20). It must have been when I was explaining why the 1.8T was a better choice than the VR6, so I guess he thought I knew a lot about cars, and therefore I could sell them. Somehow I don't think I'd make a good car salesman...my mome bought the VR6.
