Always admired Volvos from a distance, I know they have a reputation for high miles but do not know much about them. I am considering this vehicle for a 2nd car. Very attractive wagon, would appreciate any insight or advice.
1999 Volvo V70
Mileage: 180,365 Miles
Body Style: 4 Door Wagon
Exterior: Black
Engine: 2.4L I5 20V DOHC
Doors: 4
VIN: YV1LW55A7X2584478

Re: Novice seeking knowledge (telliottmich)

Welcome to Swedespeed, Tom;
Here are the recalls/papers on this Volvo...
http://www.alldata.com/TSB/64/996462a9.html
...nothing major.
If you plan to drive all winter with snows this car would be ok with its FWD. This same wagon in the V70 XC mode has AWD. Later Volvos can be had with AWD and traction control/ABS/stability.
Your candidate has the non-turbo engine so 180k is just getting warm.
Looking at the market I see this year wagon going for near $6,000 and as much as $15,000 (left coast).
If the car has good service records and can pass a thorough inspection then a test drive should finalize the deal unless you want to pay for a CarFax.
http://www.carfax.com/cfm/purchase_options.cfm
Please keep us informed on your progress.
Thanks,
George Dill
Temple, Texas, USA
