Hello all!
I'm with all of you who have had issues with their ETM (Electronic Throttle Module) on their V70/S70.. I've had two installed on my 1999 V70. The check is supposedly IN THE MAIL. I'll believe it when I see it.
OK, yesterday my car throws the SERVICE ENGINE light. Driving back from LA, the ETS light goes off.
Deja vu.
Typical rest of the story. Car goes into LIMP HOME MODE. I get it to the top of the hill before my house aaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaand...she dies.
Towed her to Volvo. They diagnose it. Said it had a hole in the lower manifold vacuum hose ($4 part) and needed an ECM upgrade. Not the ETM, which they performed per warranty, but the ENGINE CONTROL MODULE. Charged me $166.00.
My question: why should I have to pay for a software upgrade for this? Isn't the software upgrade a result of finding out that the current software wasn't adequate to begin with?
Going loco with this...

Re: (MadeInJapan)

Agreed!
You really need to complain on this. What was the software upgrade that was applied? Was it the 155 Service Campaign?
