Is this normal for volvo, or just the V50 MY06?
My car makes a heavy noise when driving. I'm pretty sure the noise comes from the tires. Had it when I still drove the 16", but with my 18" it got heavier.
Tires I'm driving are Dunlop Sport Maxx 225,40,18.

Re: Noisy tires V50 (Roco80)

could be abnormal tire wear. Is your car lowered? if so , I'd Highly recommend those vivaperformace adj. arms, it'll fix the uneven wear from being lowered.
But also check the wheel bearings, I thought my tires wear loud, but it was a front wheel bearing.... if it get's louder when you steer in one direction , most likely wheel bearing.
most 18s will be louder than 16s

Re: Noisy tires V50 (V50_T5)

Lowered and wheels/tires since may this year. 3 cm weitec springs.
A friend of mine also thought it could be the wheel bearings. I'll have that option checked later this week.
So you think the tires aren't the main cause?

Re: Noisy tires V50 (Roco80)

My car was loud on 17s and louder on 18s back in May, it is lowered 3 cm. I thought it was tires but I have those adj. arms I mentioned so I assumed my tires were loud. but no uneven tire wear.
had the wheel bearing checked .... sure enough , had it replaced and everything was quite again.
does it get louder/quiter when you steer in one direction? If so.. this is a sign of one of the front wheel bearing going out.
Uneven tire wear will give a constant noise (getting louder with speed) but NOT louder when steering in one direction.
hope I could help.... let me (us) know.
good luck

Re: (Roco80)

My V50 had been making a lot of noise from the rear tires, and when I took it in they said they were wearing unevenly. They said it is because of the rear camber. They said they could "true"/shave the tires, but the sound would return when the tires wore down. I'm going to get adjustable arms before I replace the tires.
