I have the spaceball manual option in my car.

The problem is that it creaks & groans a bit whilst changing gear. I think the noise is coming from that white plastic washer around the stick.

Are there any tricks to fix? Can I just poke down some grease or oil perhaps?

You can pull that pen holder off pretty easy and then pull off the plastic cover off that surrounds the shifter too. Maybe something fell down in between the cracks and is stuck in there. I would pull those off and take a peek to see what's up first.

Cool. Thanks. That sounds like a good start.

It doesn't sound like anything too serious. It is just some sort of plastic rubbing noise. But if I can pull out some trim it will be easier to find the problem, give it a clean and maybe a grease.

Next weekend, I will get VADIS up and take a look at the details then try to pull it apart from a lube up.

If anyone has any tricks or ideas, it would still be great to hear.

Do a search for noises and bulletins. Im pretty sure theres a bulletin for it.

I had numerous squeaking issues with the cover plate..........so the dealer added felt between the plate and the console. http://********************/smile/emthup.gif
