Hello,
I have a 1988 760 turbo. WHen I give it gas, the car rev up, but has no accleeration at all. I hear the turbo, and the gauge is alive, but black smoke pours out of the exaust, and it just creeps along. When I lift my foot off the accelerator just a bit, the engine really revs up and switches gears which speeds me up a bit. I have had this problem before, and the mechanic replaced a few hoses, and it was fine, now it is back... Any suggestions?
THanks!!

Re: NO POWER AND BLACK SMOKE HELP!!! (DeadHead)

Short answer, the rest of the hoses he did not the first time. Or a clogged/clogging up cat that is making a lot of back pressure. Hense the HAIRDRYER is blowing, but it is going nowhere fast. And NOT out the back. And that wears out the hoses faster that are weak and that comes full circle and creates a never ending cycle of boost and blowoff and vac leaks and no escape for exhuast. loosen the flange to exh pipe bolts and see if the car revs nice, but loud. If so, it is in the exhuast south of the turbo. If it starts to rev and then falls on its face once some boost is under way then it is the many hoses that SHOULD have been done before and were never done.
