You're a noobie who speaketh without knowledge of Volvo

Actually, I believe there is a software patch that works in concert with the new ECT sensor. We experienced this exact same problem with one of our lot cars . . . vehicle only had 5 miles on it at the time.

I don't want to take your money......reference TNN 28-67.
Although, that TNN does say those symptoms will result in "Check Engine Lamp Illumiation", but the other 2 symptoms are dead on.

"to resolve this concern upgrade the engine managament software using the ecm upgrade option in VIDA. use software product number 30677021 (ecm upgrade)"
-TNN 28-67
this is repairable by software alone

I doubt it's repairable by software alone. Otherwise, Chris' car would be done already instead of sitting there waiting on a PART to come in.

Yeah, that part. That part that on our car set a permanent fault code. That part that AFTER we downloaded software STILL stored a permanent fault code. That part that would ONLY let us erase the DTC and keep it erased AFTER that part was replaced.

Yes, THAT is the part I'm talking about. Capiche?

And before you even think about responding, yes, we did the proper fault tracing, and YES, it was THE PART that was faulty. Otherwise, had software alone resolved the issue, then the DTC would have been able to have been erased, thereby indicating that replacing the part was not necessary. And, thus, we would not have replaced the part.

You are incredibly inexperienced if you actually think that VCNA's TNN's are 100% correct all of the time. Don't go there with me.

which part?

The engine coolant temp sensor was what we determined was faulty. Told the ECU the vehicle was running hot, and thus the ECU went into limp-home mode.

I tell you, it's amazing how much of an absolute DOG the R is when it's in limp-home mode. I think a 240 DL would be faster.

Re: no boost & no water temp gauge (R Salesman)

Sorry guys - been tied up all day and haven't been able to post.

The part request was rejected by Volvo because DTC 275C "engine coolant temperature sensor signal too high" has TSB 28-67: VIDA software product number 30677021 (ECM upgrade)

In my case it was not a physical part fix it was a software fix.

She drives like a champ, very snappy!

Yeah, I guess so. In our instance, it definitely was the part.

Nevertheless, it's interesting to know that the 06's have different software.

Seems you guys figured it out, so thats good. And YES, it is a software fix and ONLY a software fix. You perform a ECM upgrade on 06's only and its fixed. Takes 20 minutes or less to fix. Only the R is affected by the power loss, the reg S60 has same engine temp problem where it shows no reading and the engine fan sounds like a jet turbine, but no power loss on reg S60.

So, can we take our R's in and get the software upgrade even if we have not had a problem (knock on wood, 8500 miles now and not a single problem...My R is almost like a Camry
)
