No advertising budget?

Well in my area and our TV channels there is a big 0 in Volvo adds. I've only seen or heard about the new XC90 here or the R or anything else Volvo related aside from going the the dealership???!! What's wrong here, the big three advertise like it is going out of style, how can Volvo sell its planned number of cars without any marketing strategy!? I think it's been two years sinse I've seen the last Volvo commercial on TV. Very silent, how is Volvo's advertising in your areas?
I can catch the odd ad for our local dealership in the auto trader or sometimes the news paper, but aside from a local ad buget there seems to be no upper corp. support. I'd like to see more spotlights showcasing a very nice line of cars.

Well, maybe it's your area, but it's mine, too. I saw an ad once, but it was like a year or two ago, and was during some big national TV event. (It was a program being broadcast everywhere, like maybe the Olympics or a big golf event? I forget.) They don't do local ads, and not even regional. I guess they don't consider Southeast Michigan to be one of their key target markets, seeing as how this is the home of the Big 3. I guess they'd be nuts to spend money on TV ads here. ??? Regardless. It's a bummer, because I'd love to see/hear more about the company, the brand, whatever!

I've seen the latest S80 commercial and was actually quite shocked at it. It's a bit more "out or the norm" for Volvo (at least I think so). Still not something that would make me want to go buy one. They need more aggressive advertising like Inifiniti did when they launched the new Q.

And also, who writes the lines for donald sutherland, those really need work!

Yeah, we are a "TV driven audience" here in the U.S. I'm not saying that's a good thing, but it's kind of true. When are the marketing types gonna wake up and smell the coffee and start helping SELL a few more Volvos (or at least boost the image, and/or awareness, etc.)?!

I give them a -5. http://********************/smile/emthdown.gif http://********************/smile/emthdown.gif

They need to take some lessons from BMW & Nissan/Infiniti marketing. Those new Nissan Z commercials are just too sweet IMHO. http://********************/smile/emthup.gif http://********************/smile/emthup.gif

Re: No advertising budget? (Spearzy)

There are no shortage of car ads in car crazy Southern California, but even here, it seems that Volvo is under-represented in terms of number of ads...

But lately I've been seeing a lot of those 75th Anniversary Sales specials ads on TV...

I have seen the S60 pizza one, for a few weeks I saw it a lot, then nothing. Tagged onto the end was a shout-out to SmothersEuropean which is the local Volvo retailer.

I wish they had some nice V70R comercials, like Nissan has been having recently
