Texas car, in Mass now. Never driven in winter or on salted roads. Rust free. Drives beautifully and is very comfortable. Looks really, really good. 217k.

Looking for the best reasonable offer. I'm thinking it's worth somewhere from $4k to $5k. Let me know what it's worth to you. I want this sold ASAP. I'm located North of Providence RI, SW of Boston, SE of Worcester on Mass/RI border. I offered if for sale before but wasn't really serious about selling it. I am now. Cash talks. I would welcome a pre-buy inspection by someone local. I'm not interested in holding it for any period of time. I'm sure we could work out transport if paid in full. I could potentially drive it to you if you're not too far away and it's paid in full at agreed price.

Recent work includes all new front brakes with rotors, pads and one new caliper done about 1000 miles ago.

New crank position sensor. New blower motor. New fuel system relay - all 100 miles ago.

AC compressor, receiver/drier and high pressure hose installed – works great! New heater hoses installed within last 30k.

Complete timing belt service at about 190k - belt, tensioner pulley, cam seals and water pump. All other belts also replaced – AC, power steering and alternator.

New starter/solenoid. Recent front struts and heavy duty spring seats.

In Texas, the car was completely gone through in 1999 by Southwest Auto, an independent Volvo specialist in the Dallas area https://www.southwestauto.com/about I was told that the owner of this 780 at that time (116k miles) had the engine overheat and toasted it. Southwest swapped out the motor, had the turbo rebuilt, and installed many new parts. This was just over 100k miles ago.

I am surprised. Bertones can be so delicate. I would not have thought a Texas/RI one could look so good at half the stated miles. Yours looks more like a carefully maintained 50K car.

Having transitioned from Bertones and Volvo wagons back to Jaguar, I am not a buyer but can still appreciate a fine rare Volvo. You seem to have one. This is quite the find for someone.

It drives like it has 50k too. Yes, of course I would say that, but someone will find that out. A rust free Bertone that's never had an accident should be worth this even if it didn't run or ran like crap. Even before coronavirus I didn't have a tone of interest. It would have sold for $3500 if I'd been home weekends but I couldn't connect with a couple people on their schedules.

Only thing on the timing cover is the remnants of adhesive where presumably the sticker had been stuck.

SOLD - sort of...

I decided to give the car to my son. I felt like I was just about giving it away anyway. I can't believe nobody had grabbed it at that price.

I will certainly never be a car salesman. Nothing against it but I obviously suck at it.

My son will be taking it on a road trip to Michigan when the Coronavirus shutdown is relaxed a bit more. Maybe you'll see it out on the road.

Good Choice! I finally arrived back in CT this afternoon. We stayed in Savannah for 8 extra weeks to help home school my grandsons as school was suspended a few days before we were to return. Your 780 looked like a good so I am sad, but your son will love it!
