NJ Drivers, know of any "touchless" car washes?

Having taken my R in a few weeks ago for its first wash (the traditional drive-through car wash), I noticed a number of faint swirl marks in the paint. Only visible at certain angles in bright sunlight. Never bothered me with my prior two cars (white, and silver). But for the R, I would like to find a touchless car wash, which is basically a series of highpressure jets. Have used them in New Hampshire and Vermont in the past while on ski trips, and was happy with the results...ANy ideas? If not touchless, then what do you recommend?

Thanks
Greg

I'll say that I don't recomend any "auto" wash and only my fine hands touch my car. The dirt and grime stuck in those things are amazing. Touchless washes... I'm still skepticle... But with those fine swirl marks; I wouldn't worry as a nice polish or wax job will handel those fine.

Greg,

While small in comparison to most other states, NJ is still a BIG place. Where in Jersey are you?

I live in MT. Laurel. There are several places at this end where you basically pull into a garage that has running high pressure water. You deposit money and wash/rinse the cars yourself. There is a Citago Gas station on RT 130 South, immediately before the access road for the Burlington Bristol Bridge. There is another one of these places in Mt. Holly and another (I think), on Haddonfield Road accross from the race track in Cherry Hill.

I would suspect you might be able to find these faciliities elsewhere. They are basically a laundramat for your car. They provide the resources, you get to pay and do the work.

I've got one near me that I discovered after reading in my manual that my paint needs 6 months to finish hardening before it can go through a real car wash.

As you're dealing with too.

It's called a "Laser 4000" touchless automatic car wash. Pull up, press your selection, insert money (all from within your car) and then pull forward to have the system waterjet your car. I was scared about doing that at first, but when I pulled around the back to its entrance some guy in a jet black S500 AMG was in front of me. Hey, if it's good enough for that thing it's probably okay for my black sparkle paint too.

Car wash operators of New Jersey might be a good place to start looking for that type in your area. (Found using metacrawler.com)

If you're up by the Meadowlands I know a great place. It's not touchless, it's $5 and about 10 guys swarm over your car and handwash it. They do a great job, and they actually use wash mits, not towels not brooms (i've seen them try at other places..)

My girlfriend's S60 had the headlight wiper ripped off and the arm bent in a carwash. $100 fix....but the carwash payed for it. Still sucked. Try and stick with a tocuhless one...

There is a carwash in Voorhees that is touchless. Its on the corner of Burnt Mill and White Horse Rd. The super duper wash is only $9.00. I used to take my 02' Lexus IS300 there. The only bad thing that sometimes you nick the wheel while pulling into the wash. They are padded(the wheel guides)
but I discoverd some nicks after taking my last car in there. Becareful and there is no problem. Aside from that, it does a great job. They even have aras for detailing your car.
