I bought a XC60 last year and have driven it for 62000 Kms by now. Since the last one month while driving the car would just freeze for no reason and have error messages popping up. THen the car would not move the brakes would lock up the steering would lock up. U cant even move the car to the side.
Only solution to remove the negative of the battery terminal keep it out for 10 mins and put it back again. once it resets the car goes back to normal again.

I sent the car to the workshop but there they never encountered the problem and sent back my car twice . Once it comes back again the same problem persists.

THe problem is a risk to life as the car would stall in the middle of the road.

Has anyone else encountered the problem. The Volvo dealer in India has no solution or understanding of this problem.

Have you checked the condition of your battery and visually inspected your battery cables for corrosion? Those are things you should be able to do yourself, you may need to buy a volt meter if you don't have one. I would take the chance and just buy a new battery and install it myself if it has been that much of a headache.

Your dealer should have all the proper tools to check the battery...and they should also have a way to get to technical support to see if they can help.

Sorry to hear about your problems. Sounds like a nightmare. Sure sounds like a computer problem. If the update doesn't fix it I'd say it is time to demand at least a new computer and maybe a new car. Seems like you are still under the warranty.

It's not the battery! Disconnecting the battery resets the ECU's. There is an ECU issue or even possibly a bad ground/connection somewhere. Frustrating issue!

Possibly a CEM failure?! However, the dealer should be able to sort this for you, possibly in cooperation with Volvo in Sweden.
