What problems are inherent (sp) in a 96 850R? The one I'm looking at has replaced the timing belt at 50k and the ac condensor at 70k (from what I have read, these are the two major problems with the 850)...

Make sure the brake rotors aren't warped. Do some brisk braking at highway speeds to see if there are any vibrations or shuddering.

Yeah, you're right...not until tomorrow though...It's red (not rare, but sweet lookin)...It was a real hard decision though...My 960 is in perfect shape with low miles...but then again, it's the 850R we're talkin about...I think I made the right choice...Once I can get some pics, I will definately give you guys a look...One thing I noticed on the car yesterday was the door handles were faded (because of the sun)...what's the best way to approach getting these fixed? I've heard something about putting S70 handles on...are all the 850 handles like that?

Another Flame Red R - great stuff!

Make sure your Volans alloys are in good shape and if you have to refurb them, put on stick-on balance weights to keep your rims pristine.

Door handles can be restored with Back to Black - the spirit-type spray, not the paint stuff.

Just keep a cloth under the handle while spraying to keep it off the paint and you'll need to wipe down afterwards.

Several coats over time will probably be needed, but it does work - don't forget the bumpers and bump strips, either.

Simon, Is there a specific brand you can recommend? I'm not sure I know what you're talking about...I know I've seen car paint at auto parts stores, but I'm not sure I've seen Black to Black or a spirit-type spray (I'm not sure what you mean by spirit type either)...Can you elaborate for me?
