I really can't understand what's in their mind.
Compete with the range rover, the X5/X7, the GLE with a car that looks like a restyling? (IMHO the new car, without the grill, looks worse than the previous one). Can't imagine of spending such a lot of money when "perhaps" the embla is coming in 2 years.

That's right, escaped danger, Embla sounds bad even in Italian. Too bad he also didn't cancel that ****ty instrumentation, which we will now find on all the next volvos. The xc90 pioneered the new design, so will the ex90. However whose fault it is I don't know, if Ingenlath, Page or Missoni, but the ex90 certainly does't have the open jaw effect that the xc90 did in 2014. For me, even from the outside, the effect it has is that of a very basic car, unadorned, that lacks the finishing touch. And then there's also that Polyphemus eye on the roof to digest.... Mah... I don't want to offend anyone but it's certainly not the most beautiful volvo ever made and in addition it will have the handicap of the only electric version and the very high price ...we'll see how much it sells.
P.s. Has anybody heard how strong is Jim Rowan's accent?

It seems an odd response. Most of us find the current Volvos, the most beautiful and luxurious in the companies entire history.
Don't misunderstand me. I love current volvo interiors, I think Token was referring to the EX90 and similar, that doesn't feel luxurious at all. It's just ugly and way oversimplified. They say that in the EX90 luxury is an experience of scandinavian semplicity. So current Volvos and an experience of scandinavian complexity????
Aren't they swedish?? What do they smoke?

@VolvoFaRmeR you are right, surely cars need to be touch with hands and I am sure that they have worked well, I trust Volvo. But I really dislike the choice of the dashboard, a copy of the mustang mach-e, and ugly, ugly, ugly. No sense of richness, it's a bare bald dashboard. We have to wait but if the sunroof is only available without a curtain it's another huge bulls#it.

@VolvoFaRmeR: imho the cockpit it's the part of a car that I like most. I love current volvos, I liked Saab in 90s and 2000s, and Bentley of course. To have such a poor display it's einough for me to buy a different car (and what's the point of non integrating with the rest of the dashboard, where is the advantage of put a phone behind the steering wheels stick with spit?)

I am 47 but a dinosaur yet, I like old Harley davidson, antiques, mechanical watches, handmade shoes. But I would love an entire windshield used as a big HUD. To me it's a matter of style, I know that they have choosen this layout after a long study but I can't spend such amount of money in something I don't like so deeply.
OT: Also the electric thing. We have an xc90 and a c40, declared 440km range BUT:
In daily use you have to charge up to 80% if you want to preserve batteries, you have to leave a 10% of reserve, so it's 70% really. BUT if you drive like a grandma slug. I drove in highway at 130kmh for 170km in night, with heating and lights on and the car sucked 64% of the charge. Leaved home with 80%, came back with 16%. 170km.

The current XC90 driver's control of windows has 4 up/down switches and no "selector switch". The EX90 driver's control has only 2 up/down switches and 1 "selector switch" with default control of the front set of windows. To control the rear windows the driver must click the "selector switch" to access the rear set of windows.

At the extreme, Volvo could have had 1 up/down switch and 1 "selector switch" that toggled thru all four windows . . . Volvo, I know this will save you even more money but don't do this - it would be idiocy ergonomics!
Oh I see now.
That confirms my impression that they have removed everything from this car. Every excess is a defect.
