I shot this at the recent GTG. Rob had his two 18" BBS C70 wheels refinished and had them on one side of the car. Can't wait to see it when he gets all four in (much less that turbo motor ).

Oh, WOW! Those 17-inchers are positively jaw-dropping!!! Holy cow! And that black shiny paint is just plain mean-lookin! Mercury Marauder, move on over. There's a NEW bully in town...
(I'm referring to the new Marauder commercial where the tiny, wimpy cars in the parking garage move over and "make way" for the big, black, bad-arse Marauder as he pulls into a parking spot. If you haven't seen it, maybe my comment won't make sense to ya.)

Re: Newest Picture of Volvorules Car (Lisa62)

Hey Lisa, those are actually 18" wheels. Rob has two 240 coupes (this 262 with 4cyl transplant) and a flathood 242 which is right now not running. He has 17-inch Titans on both coupes, though he's working on sourcing two more of those 18-inch BBS wheels to finish his collection so he can run them on the car all the time.
I'm totally in love with that 262 he has. The lower roofline is too darn cool. I'm trying to figure out a way that I could chop the top of my 245 for a lowslung wagon..... Yikes.

Thanks for the compliments guys...I'm working on the B230FT swap...still have a lot to do on it though. And my 242 has a cracked head...it's gonna be off the road a while so I can get the machine work done. Shaved head, porting the runners, installing the bigger valves, cc'ing the head...boy it's gonna be a while
Rob
1981 262C Bertone
1981 242DL 238 Crank HP

Those wheels definitely look great on that car! But the Titans are almost as good, so it's hard to choose. I just know I'll need 19" wheels to top everyone.

19s, that'd be nuts. BTW, you mentioned you had some work to do Michael before the event. I didn't have a chance to look over your car to see any changes. What'd you end up doing?

quote:
Hey Lisa, those are actually 18" wheels.

Thanks, George. I was typing quickly, and accidentally hit the 7 instead of the 8. Duh!
Rob, you are one lucky dude. To have not just one, but two special Volvos in your stable... A lucky man, indeed!

Re: Newest Picture of Volvorules Car (Lisa62)

I was spraying my taillights red...ALL red this time. Well over a year ago I painted the turn signals red (actually, it was before that first GTG at the parking garage in Gaithersburg). Anyway, they were starting to show some fading and one side was starting to chip so I wanted to repaint them. I figured since I just passed VA inspection, I might as well spray the backup lens too, and I'll figure something out by next years inspection.
So Saturday night before the GTG I got both taillights back on, and Sunday before I left I put the center panel back on. Here's what it looks like now:
http://www.pbase.com/image/6561098
My plan is to fit a set of 3-row taillights from an '88-'90 760 or '90-'92 740, if I can ever find a set in good shape for a good price, which would look like this:
http://www.pbase.com/image/6556315

quote:
michael, do those light just bolt in ? or do they need a lil force? it would prett darn cool...

I was surprised, but they come very close to a perfect fit. On the sides where they wrap around, the cut-out in the quarter panel doesn't perfectly match the shape of the 740 taillight, but it's close enough that I wouldn't mind. They also stick out a bit further, again not something that many people would notice but it's something I would work on if I install them on my car. Otherwise, the fit is quite good and they are nearly the same width as the 240 taillights, so I will be able to keep the center red "decor panel." Wiring will be the hardest part since I have to trace each wire and hard wire the lights.
If I could remove some material to make them fit closer to the car, that may take care of both issues. I already have one 740 light with broken lenses for the purpose of testing, so I should start modifying that one.

Re: Newest Picture of Volvorules Car (devalmyth)

devalmyth, any pics of that car? I'd never invest that much money in my 240, and if I did, it'd be in the form of a new Cobra 32V V8 with blower (400hp), but I'm really curious to see what it looks like.
Michael, those taillights look very good on that car. Good luck with it.

devalmyth, those 740 tail lights on the 240 look pretty sweet. I think that it makes the car look somewhat more expensive. Good luck with you work, looks great.
-Poritz
