Can't go wrong with the first S70 platform
Think of it as the refined 850 which was a ground breaking car for Volvo. I don't think there really was any major problems left like buying a new platform car. I know a couple people with '99 S70 and they love them.
Here's a page from Volvo tuning to give you a idea what some people do with their S70s. Sooner or later I bet this site will get a members car profile too. http://www.volvotuning.com/membercars/70/
Oh, welcome to swedespeed!

I love my S70 T5! The T5 has the high pressure turbo with 236 HP. There is a glt and it has the low pressure with 195? Stay with the T5 if you can find one. Stock boost is about .74 bar. I have an IPD/TME ECU and Cat back Exhaust, boost is now 1.2 bar. HP is up to 285 and torque is around 300.
There are definately some rattles, not only in the cabin, but occassional suspension boings. And I guess its standard Volvo stuff. Hopefully it doesn't have some of the plagued items that the 850 had. Just had to replace both seat back cables for the wifes 855 turbo, and her A/C is going out, new compressor!
But all in all, I love it and I just live with the fact that it may need more 'service' than my old Acura!
