hello fellows lemme introduce my self first I will hopefully be a future 850 owner and wanted to know a few questions please. Currentlly I own a s10 blazer that, but it has eventually lost all purpose of being a daily driver lol and I need something reliable, dependable, and safe for commuting and always liked the 850s. Anyways I was just wondering mostly what lowering springs you recommend if any, and also wanted to know how rare the 5 speeds are. I saw a 93 with 163K I think for 3gs wit ha 5 speed and wanted to know if i should jump on it and finally wanted to know what to expect, cuz i read about the tire wear, but wanted t oknow what else to look for. Thanks for reading and I look forward to this forum

Re: newbie with a few questions (slammed4x4)

The 93 was the first year. Has a few unique to that year items, wheel bolt pattern, front lights, no turbo or wagon that year also.
IPD has a lot of Volvo stuff, if you have not seen them before, check them out.
http://www.ipdusa.com

Re: newbie with a few questions (slammed4x4)

The early 850s are a bargain indeed, great car for what they are selling for! The '93 seems to have a couple qirks ironed out in the '94 model, I would personally try to scope one out in that year although a 5 speed would be nearly impossible to find in your area. The 850 has many parts available such as lower springs, shocks, struts, braces, brakes, etc. but buy a turbo if you want a smokin fast platform. Again you will have to look at a '94 for a turbo.
