Hi!
Firstly i would like to apologize for my english. Im from Poland but in US for a few months. I have 01 S60 T5, and i have questions. I have had read forum for a while, so i know a little, but please dont kill me if i will ask some stupid questions and obviuos things...
1. im not happy my brakes are working, so im thinking about new front pads and rotors. What about EBC, and green stuff pads? Any expierience? I know they are quite expensive but worth spended money? Maybe Brembo or Zimmerman better?
2.sparks plugs. I heard that Bosh its not the best deal to turbo volvos, so maybe NGK?
3. new engine oil - Mobil 1 Extended Perfomance? Should i pay more for this one or just regular Mobil 10w30 wil be ok? Is this extended perfomance really works? In europe you can change oil once a year so aprox. 10000 miles or more. Why here every 3000-5000 miles? Oils are worst quality or what?
4. i have 85000 miles, should i change fuel filter, timing belt(users manuals says 105000miles).
5. ECU upgrade. There is a lot too choose. I know RICA is the best but also its not the cheapest one. What about BSR? I like the way it can be done. I can do it by myself, and back to stock whenever i want to. Is BSR good? Evolve, IPD, Eurosport Tuning(cheap!)? They will give me almost the same HP and torque, different only with price. And i have to send my ECU, which is not the best way for me. Well exept Evolve, cause i live close to them.
6. The same dilemmas with exhaust. Whichone is the best and gives nice deep sound and its not too noisy?
7. I have automatic geartronic trans, i heard that its already working on the edge of strenght. So if i will put aprox. 30-50 more HP and i will have over 400ft torque will i blow out my trans? Dont want to have this problem...
8. Intake. I was thinking about ultra-flo air intake system by eurosport tuning. They lovered price right know, so i think its a good deal. How often this filter has to be cleaned and what to use with this particular filter? K&N filter care kit will be good? Does oil from cleaner can damage my engine if i will put too much of it? Or maybe replace stock filter with the same but K&N? I would like have nice woooh sound when accelerate.
9. I dont want to spend too much money. I would like have good perfomance, and still have something in my pocket for gas. Thats why im not thinking about new turbos, injectors etc. Stage 0 will be soon so i will be prepered for some upgrades
10. TO LA AND ORANGE COUNTY guys: Im looking for good volvo garage, people who are good and trustworthy. Im not talking about volvo dealers like cerritos, or power volvos cause they are expensive. And i would like check my car on dyno, so any luck in this area? Probably Evolve has one, anything else?
Sorry guys for so long post, but please understand me just a little.... New car and a lot of new ideas and questions.
Thanks
Re: Newbie has questions (Brzoza)

My two cents:
2. Denso Iridium has worked fine for me.
3. Mobil-1 10W30 is fine. 3000mile oil change for regular driving is a myth, based on crappy ol' american cars and non-synthetic oil. Volvo recommended 7500 miles seems fine with the climate/driving here.
4. Changing the timing belt now is a good idea, if you plan to tune the
car. (higher revs).
5. BSR is good, but not if you plan to use someone else's downpipe.
6. IPD exhaust is not very noisy, and adds responsiveness to any tuning.
7. Geartronic may start showing problems with the extra torque, especially if it has the typical valve body problem. Mine is working rather okay with stock software, but starts slipping with BSR. Most people have no problems.
8. K&N panel is enough. Don't use so called cold air intakes, unless you build piping from the bumper and insulate the intake from hte engine heat. Search R-forum for discussions about this.
9. With those miles and GT, BSR and a catback is probably as much you would want to go. Maybe a water injection system, if you don't want to buy race fuel. Even the BSR'd T5 feels like stock in Orange County in summer time with 91 octane fuel.

the only thing i can tell you is i bought an injen air filter, injen 3' to 2 3/4' hose and an injen heat ****eld and just built my own cold air intake, works, great, you can hear the turbo spool up. as for exhaust, i bought an apex'i n1 carbon fiber muffler and had it welded on with a new pipe from the cat. its loud, but it does sound great. have fun with your 60
